Apple reportedly promoted Vanessa Trigub to the newly created role of vice president of stores and retail operations in March 2025. The position gives her responsibility for Apple’s physical-store operations worldwide and places regional retail leaders under her oversight, according to reports citing people familiar with the change.
Apple had not publicly confirmed the appointment in the initial coverage. A later executive-directory listing identified Trigub in the role as of April 2026, but that listing is not an Apple announcement.

What changed at Apple’s retail organization?
Trigub’s reported promotion consolidates global oversight of Apple’s branded stores under one executive. Her responsibilities reportedly include regional retail operations across the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Before the change, Trigub led retail operations in Apple’s Americas West region. The new role is broader than that position: it is described as a global stores and retail-operations post rather than simply a regional vice presidency.

Where the role fits in Apple’s reporting structure
Trigub reportedly reports to Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president responsible for retail and people. The regional retail leaders would report through Trigub, giving Apple a single senior operator for its worldwide store network.

That does not mean Trigub controls every retail-related function. Reporting indicated that O’Brien would continue to oversee other areas, including retail real estate, marketing and online sales. “Global stores leader” is therefore a useful description of the role, but “head of all Apple retail” would be too broad.
The arrangement appears designed to simplify O’Brien’s management structure by creating a dedicated executive for day-to-day global store leadership. That is an organizational interpretation of the reported reporting lines, not a reason Apple has publicly stated.

Who is Vanessa Trigub?
According to reports, Trigub joined Apple around 2007, reportedly beginning as an intern. Her earlier experience included finance and mergers and acquisitions before she moved into retail strategy, program development and regional store operations.
AppleInsider reported that she became vice president of retail operations for the Americas West region in 2023, during a broader Apple retail reshuffle that also included promotions for Tracey Hannelly and Karen Rasmussen.

MacGeneration reported that Trigub holds an economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Stanford. Those biographical details come from secondary reporting; Apple does not appear to publish a public executive biography for Trigub.

Why the appointment matters
Apple operates hundreds of branded stores around the world. Apple’s official store locator confirms the breadth of that network, although it does not establish a current global store total. MacGeneration put the number at approximately 535 locations in contemporaneous reporting; that figure should be treated as a dated estimate rather than an official current count.

A single global stores executive could give Apple:
- More consistent execution: Regional teams would have a common senior operational leader.
- A clearer management structure: O’Brien would have one principal stores executive rather than directly coordinating as many regional leaders.
- Internal leadership continuity: Trigub brings long experience with Apple’s financial, strategic and retail organizations.
These are potential effects of the structure, not confirmed changes to Apple’s store policies, staffing model, customer service or store design. No evidence in the reporting indicates that the appointment immediately changed the customer experience.

Some coverage described Trigub as a possible future successor to O’Brien. That remains speculation. Apple has not publicly identified Trigub as O’Brien’s successor or announced a succession plan.
The promotion could increase Trigub’s visibility as a senior retail leader, particularly because it gives her global operational responsibility. But a larger role is not proof that a succession decision has been made.

- Apple’s formal public confirmation of the promotion.
- The exact effective date of the appointment.
- A complete, officially published reporting chart for Apple’s retail organization.
- Whether the role has authority over every retail-related function, rather than stores and regional store operations specifically.
- Whether Trigub is being groomed to replace O’Brien.
As of April 2026, The Official Board listed Trigub as “vice president of stores and retail operations” at Apple Retail. That is useful later-directory evidence, but it remains a secondary source rather than first-party confirmation.
Bottom line
Apple’s reported promotion of Vanessa Trigub is best understood as an internal management restructuring: a new global stores role beneath Deirdre O’Brien, with regional physical-store operations consolidated under one leader. It is not, based on the available reporting, a replacement of O’Brien, a direct continuation of Angela Ahrendts’s former role, or an announcement of new customer-facing retail policies.
