Samsung Galaxy phones could become more expensive in the United States, but no future Galaxy S27 price increase has been confirmed. The warning is credible because Samsung has already raised launch pricing for the Galaxy S26 and S26+ while reporting elevated component costs and continuing memory-supply constraints. Buyers should distinguish that confirmed S26 change from speculation about future models.
What has already become more expensive?
Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy S26 launch provides the clearest evidence that higher Galaxy prices are possible. Samsung lists the Galaxy S26 from $899.99 and the S26+ from $1,099.99 before trade-in credits and promotions.

The comparison is more complicated than a simple $100 year-over-year increase. Samsung removed the 128GB entry configuration from the S26 range, making 256GB the base storage tier. That means the cheapest S26 costs more than the cheapest S25 did even before comparing other specifications.

The 512GB model has been listed at $1,099.99, with some promotional displays at $999.99. These sale prices are not the same as official MSRP.

Samsung has also advertised time-limited incentives, including up to $570 in instant trade-in credit or $250 off without a trade-in. Eligibility and amounts can change, so buyers should compare the final checkout price rather than relying on the headline discount.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s U.S. launch starting price was reportedly unchanged relative to the S25 Ultra. That distinction matters: Samsung did not raise every model uniformly, and a future increase could similarly affect only selected phones.

Why could Galaxy prices rise again?
Memory is under pressure
Phones use DRAM for working memory and NAND or UFS storage for internal capacity. Those components are also central to servers supporting artificial-intelligence workloads.
In its second-quarter 2026 results, Samsung said AI infrastructure demand remained strong and that server DRAM, enterprise SSD and high-bandwidth-memory demand was expected to accelerate. Samsung also said the memory market was expected to remain undersupplied and that supply constraints could continue.

That does not prove that a particular Galaxy phone will rise by a particular amount. It does establish a credible cost risk. TrendForce reported that smartphone brands were finding mobile-memory price increases increasingly difficult to absorb as AI-server demand competed for semiconductor capacity.
Samsung is reporting broader component-cost pressure
Samsung’s own disclosures do not attribute a specific future U.S. phone-price increase solely to RAM or storage. The company has instead said that elevated component costs affected mobile earnings and warned that higher component costs and weak consumer demand could persist.

Processors, displays, storage, logistics and geopolitical conditions may add pressure, but the available evidence does not support assigning a precise dollar amount to any one factor.
Samsung’s chip and phone businesses have different interests
Samsung both manufactures memory and sells smartphones. Higher memory prices can benefit its semiconductor business while increasing costs for its mobile business. That does not mean Samsung’s phone division gets memory for free or that an internal transfer price can be calculated from public filings. The practical result is simply that Samsung may weigh lower mobile margins against higher retail prices.
Is a Galaxy S27 price increase confirmed?
No. As of the August 16, 2026 research snapshot, Samsung had not publicly confirmed U.S. MSRP for the next Galaxy S generation.

Reports have raised concerns that a more expensive next-generation flagship could influence customer behavior and may have contributed to stronger interest in the S26. That is evidence of market expectations, not an announcement of Galaxy S27 pricing. Android Central’s report should therefore be read as a forward-looking risk.

Which Samsung phones are most exposed?
Galaxy A-series and other budget phones
Lower-priced phones may face the greatest percentage impact. A $20 to $50 increase is much more significant on a $170 phone than on a $1,300 flagship, and budget models have less margin to absorb component inflation.
Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP list included the Galaxy A16 5G 128GB at $169.99, the A17 5G 128GB at $199.99, and the A56 5G at $499.99 for 128GB or $549.99 for 256GB. These are reference MSRPs, not predictions of future increases. Samsung’s MSRP sheet provides the listed figures.
Industry analysis suggests memory can represent a large share of lower-tier phone manufacturing costs, but figures from the broader smartphone market should not be treated as Samsung-specific without a Samsung bill of materials. Tom’s Hardware has described the broader exposure.
Base and Plus flagships
The S26 launch suggests that Samsung may protect premium positioning while raising prices on base and Plus models. It can also change storage tiers, reduce discounts or steer customers toward more expensive models without applying the same increase across the range.

Ultra phones
Ultra models have higher margins and premium positioning, which may give Samsung more room to absorb costs. The S26 Ultra’s reportedly unchanged launch pricing shows that a cost increase does not automatically translate into a higher Ultra MSRP.
Foldables
Foldables already use costly displays, hinges and other specialized components, so their pricing will not necessarily track slab-style Galaxy phones. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP examples were $1,099.99 for the Galaxy Z Flip7 256GB, $1,219.99 for the 512GB version, $1,999.99 for the Galaxy Z Fold7 256GB, $2,119.99 for 512GB and $2,419.99 for 1TB.

If you need a phone now
Buy based on the current effective price, warranty and return policy—not solely on an unconfirmed future-price rumor. Compare the outright cost after trade-in, the storage tier and any carrier commitment.
If you can wait for the next flagship
Waiting is reasonable. Samsung has not confirmed Galaxy S27 pricing, and a higher MSRP could be offset by stronger preorder discounts or trade-in offers. Do not treat a rumored increase as a guaranteed saving opportunity.
If you do not have a trade-in
Focus on the unlocked purchase price and genuine discounts. “Up to” trade-in credits do not help buyers without an eligible device, and the most generous carrier offer may require a qualifying plan and monthly bill credits for several years.

If you are choosing storage
A cheaper storage tier can reduce the upfront cost, but do not buy too little capacity if you keep large photo libraries, video, games or offline AI features. Higher storage may also be exposed to NAND cost increases, but a higher-capacity phone can still be better value if the lower tier quickly becomes restrictive.
If an older Galaxy is discounted
A discounted S25, S25 FE or older Ultra may be the better personal-finance choice if it meets your camera, performance and software-support needs. Compare the discount with the remaining support period, warranty, return terms and condition if the device is refurbished.
Check effective price, not just MSRP
A useful comparison is:
- Start with the phone’s current unlocked or carrier MSRP.
- Subtract an instant discount that you actually qualify for.
- Subtract the realistic trade-in value, not the maximum advertised amount.
- Add any required plan cost, activation fee or remaining bill-credit obligation.
- Check storage, warranty, return rules and whether the offer is temporary.
A higher MSRP can still produce a lower transaction price during a launch promotion. Conversely, a carrier can preserve the headline phone price while reducing bill credits or requiring a more expensive plan.
What would confirm a change in the outlook?
Before buying, check Samsung’s U.S. product pages and MSRP sheets, the next official Galaxy announcement, carrier launch pricing, storage configurations, trade-in terms and preorder conditions. Samsung’s earnings commentary and specialist memory-market reports can show whether cost pressure is easing, but they cannot substitute for an official U.S. phone price.
The verdict
Higher U.S. Galaxy prices are a credible possibility, not a confirmed Galaxy S27 outcome. Samsung has already raised the S26 and S26+ launch prices and removed the 128GB entry tier, while its own financial disclosures point to continued component and memory-supply pressure. But Samsung can absorb costs, alter storage, vary prices by model or use larger promotions. For buyers, the safest decision is to compare the final effective cost of a phone available today with the value of waiting—not to assume that every future Galaxy will be more expensive.
