MacRumors reported that the APY dropped from 4.5% to 4.4% on April 3, 2024. Apple’s public Savings page later listed a 3.40% APY dated June 4, 2026; the rate on an individual account may have changed since then, so check Savings in Wallet for the rate that applies to you.
When did Apple Card Savings fall to 4.4%?
The 4.4% APY was a historical rate, effective April 3, 2024. MacRumors reported the decrease from 4.5% based on Apple backend data; its report did not include a directly attributable explanation from Apple or Goldman Sachs for the change. MacRumors’ April 3, 2024 report
That means the old headline’s word “today” referred to April 3, 2024, not October 4, 2026. The available information does not establish why the 2024 reduction happened, so it should not be attributed to a particular Federal Reserve decision or other cause.
What is the Apple Card Savings APY now?
Apple’s Savings product page lists a 3.40% APY, with the disclosure dated June 4, 2026. Apple warns that the APY may change at any time, before or after an account is opened. That dated public figure is not confirmation of the rate currently assigned to every account. Apple Card Savings product page

No causal link is established. Apple announced in January 2026 that Chase is expected to become Apple Card’s issuer in approximately 24 months, subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Goldman Sachs is to continue servicing users until the transition is complete. The announcement does not say that the issuer transition caused a particular Savings APY change.
