Amazon’s Apple AirTag four-pack was advertised at $70 during Cyber Monday 2024, or $17.50 per AirTag. However, the original coverage also listed the price as $73 in its article text. That made the effective cost either $17.50 or $18.25 per tag. The offer was compelling at the time, but readers should not treat it as an available September 2026 deal without independently confirming a current retailer listing.

What happened to the $70 AirTag deal?
The deal involved Apple’s four-pack of AirTags at Amazon during Cyber Monday 2024. The historical deal card displayed $70 against a stated regular price of $100. The accompanying article copy, however, referred to a price of $73.
That discrepancy matters. At $70, the four-pack cost $17.50 per tag and represented a nominal $30, or 30%, reduction from $100. At $73, the effective price was $18.25 per tag and the saving was $27, or 27%.

The source described $70 as a record low, while its body text called $73 only $3 above the then-reported all-time low. Those claims should be understood as historical descriptions of the 2024 listing, not as a current price guarantee. See the original Engadget deal coverage.
Is the deal still available?
There is no verified basis here to say that Amazon still offers the four-pack for $70—or even $73. The offer was tied to Cyber Monday 2024, which fell on December 2, 2024. Retailer prices, inventory, sellers, shipping terms and return policies can change, and an old deal page is not evidence of a live offer.
Readers considering AirTags now should compare the current four-pack price with the current price of a single AirTag and include the cost of any holders or mounts. Apple’s four-pack buying page is a useful reference, but its current price is not established by this historical deal.

AirTags are designed for Apple-device users and the Find My ecosystem. A nearby tag can play a sound, while the wider Find My network can use nearby Apple devices to report an approximate location when the tag is away from its owner.
With compatible iPhone hardware and suitable conditions, Precision Finding can provide directional and distance guidance for a nearby AirTag. The historical coverage described an approximate range of around 25 feet, but that should not be treated as a guaranteed operating radius. Walls, obstructions, interference and the tag’s surroundings can affect results.

For an iPhone household with several items to track, the four-pack can be practical for:
- Keys, wallets and purses
- Checked luggage and carry-on bags
- Backpacks, camera bags and equipment cases
- Several family members’ belongings
- Spare tags or gifts for other Apple-device users

AirTags do not have a built-in attachment hole
A bare AirTag cannot simply be clipped onto a keyring, luggage strap or pet collar. Most users need a separate holder, loop or adhesive mount. Apple lists compatible options on its AirTag accessories page.
That additional purchase changes the real cost of a complete setup. A four-pack may look inexpensive on a per-tag basis, but holders for multiple tags can materially increase the total outlay.
They are not independent GPS trackers
AirTags do not continuously transmit their own GPS location over a cellular connection. Nearby finding relies on Bluetooth and sound, while distant location updates depend on other Apple devices participating in the Find My network.

That makes an AirTag useful for locating belongings, but less suitable when you need frequent, independent location updates for a pet, vehicle or person. Dedicated GPS trackers may be more appropriate for those uses, although they commonly require charging and an ongoing subscription.

Sound and proximity finding have practical limits
The historical coverage reported that the ringer runs for about seven seconds at a time. A short sound can be difficult to hear in a noisy environment, and sound-based finding is useful only when the tag is close enough and audible. Precision Finding also requires compatible hardware and favorable conditions.
AirTags are primarily for Apple users
AirTags are built around Apple’s Find My ecosystem. An Android phone is not an equivalent substitute for an iPhone for setup and everyday tracking. Android users may encounter an AirTag through anti-stalking or NFC-related features, but that does not provide the full AirTag experience.
Android-first households should consider a tracker designed for their platform or a broader cross-platform option such as Tile. Samsung Galaxy users may prefer Samsung Galaxy SmartTag.

The four-pack makes sense when:
- You already use an iPhone and several items need tracking.
- You can use at least three or four tags over time.
- You value the Find My network and nearby Precision Finding.
- The current per-tag price is meaningfully below the current single-unit price.
- You have budgeted for holders or other attachment accessories.
A single AirTag is better when:
- You need to track only one item.
- You want to test the ecosystem before buying several.
- The four-pack’s upfront cost would leave most tags unused.
- You do not want to buy multiple holders.
Buying four solely because the unit price looks low is not automatically a saving. An unused tracker provides no value, and accessories may be required before the tags can be attached to the items you care about.

Privacy and responsible use
AirTags are intended for belongings, not covertly monitoring people. Do not place one on someone’s property or use one to track a person without consent. Apple provides unwanted-tracking protections, including alerts and sounds intended to help people detect an unknown tracker traveling with them, but no consumer tracker should be treated as a surveillance tool.
Similarly, an AirTag is not automatically a pet-safety solution. For a pet that may travel beyond the range of nearby Apple devices, a dedicated GPS or cellular pet tracker may provide more appropriate coverage. Apple’s current safety guidance is available through its personal-safety resources.
Verdict
The historical $70 four-pack was a strong Cyber Monday 2024 price for an iPhone user who needed several trackers: $17.50 per AirTag was substantially below the stated $25 regular per-unit price. But the source itself contained a $70/$73 inconsistency, and the deal is not currently verified.
For a purchase today, check the live price, seller, stock, shipping and return terms, then add the cost of holders. Buy the four-pack only if you have several Apple-ecosystem use cases; otherwise, a single AirTag or a platform-appropriate alternative is the more disciplined choice.
