If you own an Anker power bank, check its model number and serial number. Anker announced a global voluntary recall of selected units of five models because a potential lithium-ion battery problem could cause overheating, melting, smoke, or fire. If Anker confirms your unit is affected, stop using it and follow the recall instructions.

The announcement was made on June 30, 2025; it is not a new August 2026 recall. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) later issued its own notice covering about 481,000 units.

Which Anker power banks are included?

The recall names these five model numbers. Check the marking on the power bank itself; product name, capacity, color, or a retailer listing alone cannot confirm that your particular unit is eligible.

Model Product description
A1257 Anker Power Bank, generally sold as a 10,000mAh, 22.5W model
A1647 Anker Power Bank, 20,000mAh, 22.5W, with a built-in USB-C cable
A1652 Anker MagGo Power Bank
A1681 Anker Zolo Power Bank
A1689 Anker Zolo Power Bank

These descriptions and model numbers are listed in Anker’s recall announcement and the US CPSC notice. Not every unit bearing one of these model numbers is necessarily eligible: Anker asks customers to verify the serial number.

Find the model and serial numbers

The model number is generally printed on the back or side of the device near its regulatory markings. The serial number may be marked “SN Code” or appear elsewhere, depending on the model. Photograph the front and back, the model and serial markings, any visible damage, and proof of purchase if you have it. An example of serial-number-location guidance is available in this Army safety recall message.

Use the physical markings as your starting point, then enter the serial number in Anker’s recall process. A capacity such as 10,000mAh or 20,000mAh is not enough to establish eligibility.

What to do if your power bank is affected

  1. Stop using it. Anker says to stop using a confirmed recalled unit even if it appears to charge normally.
  2. Disconnect it if safe. Unplug the power bank from a charger or phone. If it is cool and safe to handle, move it away from flammable materials.
  3. Check the serial number. Submit the model and serial information through Anker’s recall portal.
  4. Follow the recall instructions. Anker’s process provides the applicable remedy and directions for handling the device. Do not assume that a return shipment is permitted; ask Anker and, if needed, the carrier before transporting it.
  5. Arrange disposal safely. Do not put it in household trash, curbside recycling, or an ordinary used-battery drop box. Contact your municipal household-hazardous-waste facility before visiting and ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion devices. If it does not, ask the municipality for instructions.

If the unit is hot, smoking, swollen, damaged, or burning, do not handle or transport it. Leave the area and contact emergency services if there is an immediate danger.

What is the hazard, and what has been reported?

Anker described a potential issue involving lithium-ion cells supplied for the products. The concern is that a battery could overheat, potentially causing melting, smoke, or fire. The public notices do not establish that every unit of each model is defective, which is why the serial-number check matters.

The CPSC notice lists US sales from August 2023 through June 2025 and a price range of $30–$50. Those are US recall figures, not worldwide totals. See the CPSC notice for the full details.

What remedy can owners claim?

For the United States, the CPSC notice lists a refund. Anker describes a global voluntary recall, but remedies and return or disposal procedures can vary by country. Submit your information through Anker’s recall process and follow the instructions for your location rather than assuming the US remedy applies elsewhere. Anker’s recall index lists this five-model action and other recall notices.

How this recall differs from Anker’s other recalls

“Another” refers to a separate recall action, not one combined notice covering all Anker power banks. A1647 and A1652 also appeared in an earlier, much smaller recall, so serial-number verification is particularly important for those models.

Action Date and scope US units and remedy
Earlier Anker recall October 17, 2024; models A1642, A1647, and A1652 About 2,100 units; see the CPSC notice for its remedy details.
A1263 recall June 12, 2025; PowerCore 10000, model A1263 About 1,158,000 units; replacement listed by the CPSC. See the CPSC notice.
Five-model recall Anker announcement in June 2025; US CPSC notice dated September 18, 2025; A1257, A1647, A1652, A1681, and A1689 About 481,000 US units; refund listed by the CPSC. See the CPSC notice.

The five-model action is not a recall of every Anker power bank or every Anker charging product. Use the model and serial checks for the specific notice that may apply to your device.

Transporting or taking a recalled unit to a facility

Do not assume a recalled lithium-ion battery can be mailed, carried on a flight, or taken to a retail battery-recycling box. The instructions located for this recall do not establish a blanket airline or shipping rule for every country and carrier. Ask Anker and the relevant airline or carrier before transporting a recalled unit; do not take a hot or swollen device on a trip. Confirm that a disposal facility accepts recalled lithium-ion devices before you visit.
