At Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), the Amex Centurion Lounge is not currently open, and Priority Pass does not list a conventional airport lounge. As of October 9, 2026, American Express lists Newark as a location “coming soon,” without an opening date or terminal location. Priority Pass lists two different kinds of stop: a private rest suite in Terminal C and a spa in Terminal A. Which, if either, works for you depends on your terminal, itinerary, card issuer and what you want to do.
What you can use at EWR right now
This is not a like-for-like comparison. The Centurion Lounge is a planned opening, not an operating EWR benefit. Priority Pass’s EWR directory lists Minute Suites and Be Relax Spa—neither is a shared lounge offering the usual combination of general seating, food and drinks.

If you want a traditional lounge
Neither currently listed Priority Pass experience is a substitute for a conventional lounge. Minute Suites provides a private room, while Be Relax provides a selected treatment. The planned Centurion Lounge could become another choice after it opens, but its existence on a “coming soon” list does not make it available for a present trip.

If you want a quiet place to rest or work
Minute Suites is the closer fit: Priority Pass describes access to a private suite for one hour per visit entitlement. It may suit a traveler who values privacy and has time to use Terminal C, provided the traveler’s specific card or membership is accepted and a suite is available.
If you want a short wellness stop
Be Relax may suit a domestic Terminal A itinerary when the spa is open and has capacity. It is a treatment benefit, not a place to settle in for a meal or wait in a general lounge. A visit entitlement is used for a selected service, and additional charges may apply.
If you are deciding whether a card is worth it
Do not count on an EWR Centurion visit when choosing or paying for a card until American Express confirms that the lounge is open and publishes location-specific information. For Priority Pass, confirm both enrollment requirements and the exact EWR venue’s issuer rules; a Priority Pass benefit attached to a card does not guarantee that every listed partner accepts that card.

Minute Suites: entitlement, time and eligibility
Priority Pass’s EWR listing places Minute Suites airside in Terminal C near Gate C15 and lists the location as open 00:00–23:59. The listing says domestic and international passengers may use it. One Priority Pass visit entitlement covers one hour in a suite. The listing gives a direct charge of US$40 for each subsequent hour, with additional time beyond the first hour billed in 15-minute increments. Up to three accompanying guests may use the same suite at no extra charge under the listed terms.
Those terms do not override the issuer warning on the listing: access through some American Express and Capital One cards may not be available. Check with your card issuer and the current Minute Suites/Priority Pass listing before relying on the benefit. Availability also applies, so an entitlement is not a reservation or guarantee of an immediately available room.
Before going to Minute Suites
- Confirm your terminal and route. The listed location is in Terminal C, airside. Make sure it fits your departure or connection and that you can reach it within your airport itinerary.
- Check your exact membership. If Priority Pass comes through a credit card, ask the issuer whether that card’s membership is accepted at this Minute Suites location. Do not assume that enrollment alone resolves the venue’s warning.
- Check the live listing and availability. Confirm current hours, access conditions and whether a suite is available when you expect to arrive.
- Decide whether one hour is enough. The visit entitlement covers the first hour under the listing. If you may stay longer, account for the stated US$40 charge per subsequent hour and the 15-minute billing increments beyond the initial hour.
- Clarify who is included. The listing allows up to three accompanying guests in the same suite at no extra charge under its stated terms. Confirm current terms at the venue if your group or membership circumstances differ.
The useful comparison here is privacy and duration, not lounge amenities. If you only need a place to sit with a meal or use shared lounge facilities, the suite listing does not promise those things. If you need a private place for a short rest or work session, the first entitlement hour may be relevant; if your schedule could stretch longer, the direct extension charge matters. The additional US$40 is charged by the venue for each subsequent hour, not a cash value credited to your Priority Pass account.

Be Relax Spa: treatments and limits
Priority Pass lists Be Relax airside near Gate A7 in Terminal A, every day from 09:00 to 21:00. Its EWR listing says it is for domestic flights only. Listed choices include a 15-minute massage plus O2, a 30-minute massage, a polish change plus hand massage, and a 10-minute foot treatment plus O2. Each selected service consumes a lounge visit entitlement; extra charges may apply. Access depends on capacity and the spa’s discretion.

Before going to Be Relax
- Check that the itinerary qualifies. The listing specifies domestic flights, and the location is in Terminal A near Gate A7 after security.
- Confirm the spa is operating at your arrival time. Its listed hours are 09:00–21:00 daily, but service availability is subject to capacity and the spa’s discretion.
- Review the treatment and entitlement terms. Choose a service that fits your schedule and check whether the visit entitlement covers it or additional charges apply.
- Ask about current service availability. Do not treat the listed service value as cash credit or assume a particular treatment will be available when you arrive.
Be Relax is a more narrowly defined stop than Minute Suites: you use the visit for a treatment rather than an hour in a private room. A 10-, 15- or 30-minute listed treatment may fit a brief gap better than a longer rest, but the treatment menu and capacity—not just the posted hours—determine what you can actually receive. The spa listing does not make it an option for an international itinerary, even if you have a Priority Pass membership.
Amex Centurion access rules: what is known and what is not
American Express’s network page describes Newark as “coming soon.” It gives no opening date, terminal, gate-area location or EWR-specific access policy. The network page also says the Centurion Lounge Network has “30+” spaces; that is American Express’s current network-wide figure, not a count of lounges at Newark. The page does not establish when Newark will open.
American Express’s general U.S. terms for an operating Centurion Lounge say U.S. Platinum Card Members have unlimited complimentary access, subject to space availability. For a departing visit, the cardmember must arrive within three hours of a same-day flight and show a valid card and a boarding pass with a confirmed reservation and assigned seat or zone. The name on the card and boarding pass must match; government-issued identification may be requested. For a layover, Amex specifies arrival within five hours of the connecting flight.

Those are general U.S. program terms, not a confirmation of future EWR rules. Amex’s cited terms list a US$50 charge per adult guest and US$30 for children aged 2–17 unless the cardmember qualifies for complimentary guest access. Up to two complimentary guests may be available after US$75,000 in eligible calendar-year purchases. Guests must travel on the same flight. Because guest rules and lounge policies can change, confirm the live card terms before relying on these figures; none makes the Newark location available before opening.

American Express describes recent network openings in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Tokyo-Haneda, and says new lounges are coming soon to Amsterdam, Charlotte and Newark. That corporate wording confirms only that Newark appears on its future-opening list. It does not provide a timetable, identify which EWR terminal will host the lounge, or say what amenities will be offered there. In practical terms, a cardmember cannot use the general Platinum access terms as a substitute for a currently operating EWR location.
There is also a difference between program eligibility and a particular airport visit. Even at an operating Centurion Lounge, the cited U.S. terms make access subject to space availability and specify timing and boarding-pass requirements. For Newark, travelers should wait for American Express to publish an opening and location-specific details, then check the applicable terms close to departure. Using Priority Pass through an American Express card
U.S. Platinum Card Members must enroll to receive the Priority Pass benefit. Having an American Express card by itself is not the same as having an enrolled Priority Pass membership. Once enrolled, access is still governed by Priority Pass and the individual venue’s terms. Amex notes that some partners limit or disallow guests and that participating partners can change.
- Enroll in the benefit. Follow the current Priority Pass enrollment process provided by American Express for your eligible card.
- Check the EWR venue, not just the membership name. Look up Minute Suites or Be Relax in the live Priority Pass directory and read the location-specific conditions.
- Verify the issuer’s acceptance. For Minute Suites in particular, heed the listing’s warning that some American Express card access may not be available; contact the issuer if the listing does not resolve whether your membership qualifies.
- Check guests, visit allowance and charges. These may differ by card, membership and location. Do not assume Centurion guest rules apply to Priority Pass venues, or that a listed service or suite extension is free.
This distinction matters if you are comparing the card’s two benefits. Centurion access is an Amex lounge-network benefit for eligible U.S. Platinum Card Members under the general terms; the Priority Pass benefit requires enrollment and applies only at participating locations under their terms. At EWR today, the first does not provide a Newark visit because the lounge is not operational, while the latter may offer access to a listed suite or spa only if the membership and venue conditions are met.
Terminal and timing checks that prevent a wasted stop
Both currently listed Priority Pass experiences are airside but in different terminals: Minute Suites is in C, and Be Relax is in A. Be Relax is limited to domestic flyers according to its listing; Minute Suites is listed for domestic and international passengers. A benefit in one terminal is not automatically useful if your route, security access or connection does not let you reach it in time.
- Confirm the departure or connecting terminal and gate area for the day of travel.
- Check whether the venue is airside and whether your flight type meets its stated restriction.
- Allow for the time needed to reach the location and return to your gate; do not plan around an assumed terminal transfer or access route.
- Recheck hours and availability on the day, especially if your itinerary changes.
Do not compare the two listings by hours alone. Minute Suites is listed 00:00–23:59, while Be Relax is listed 09:00–21:00 daily, but neither listing promises immediate availability. A nearly 24-hour listing does not guarantee a room, and the spa’s daytime hours do not guarantee a specific treatment. The terminal, flight type, acceptance of your particular membership and available capacity all affect whether the listed benefit is useful.

Priority Pass partner inventory, hours, access rules and capacity can change. American Express also says Centurion location hours and amenities vary and may change. The Port Authority’s airport information and the live program or venue listings are more useful on travel day than a stale card-benefit summary.
Which option makes sense for your trip?
For a traveler seeking a shared place to sit, eat and drink, the answer at present is that neither of the two Priority Pass experiences listed at EWR is that kind of lounge, and the future Centurion Lounge is not yet an option. For a traveler who wants quiet and privacy, Minute Suites may be the better match if Terminal C works, the exact card-linked membership is accepted, and one hour—or a paid extension—fits the plan. For a domestic traveler in Terminal A looking for a short treatment, Be Relax may be the more relevant stop if it is open and has capacity.
There is no sourced comparative score for satisfaction, value or access at EWR, so a single “best” option would overstate what the listings establish. Compare what you can verify: whether the service is operating now, what kind of experience it is, where it is located, whether your itinerary qualifies, whether your issuer is accepted, and what a visit or extra time costs. If none of those conditions fits, do not treat the existence of an airport listing as a reason to detour.
