For an enterprise buyer, the better choice depends on whether the exact models and software stack run well on the platform, how much memory and interconnect the workload needs, and what the complete deployment costs at realistic utilization. The available specifications are not a controlled head-to-head benchmark, and the hardware figures below describe different-sized units.
What the hardware comparison actually tells you
AMD’s MI350X and MI355X are accelerators; NVIDIA’s DGX B200 is an eight-GPU system. Comparing their headline totals as if they were equivalent products would be misleading. The figures below are vendor-published specifications, not independent benchmark results.

| Specification | AMD Instinct MI350 family | NVIDIA DGX B200 |
|---|---|---|
| Unit described | MI350X/MI355X accelerator configurations; confirm the specific model and board or system configuration with AMD’s MI350 product specifications. | Complete system with eight Blackwell GPUs, per NVIDIA’s DGX B200 specifications. |
| GPU memory | AMD lists 288 GB HBM3E for relevant MI350X/MI355X accelerator configurations. AMD MI350 specifications. | 1,440 GB total GPU memory across the eight-GPU system. This is a system total, not a single-GPU figure. NVIDIA DGX B200 specifications. |
| Memory bandwidth | AMD lists 8 TB/s for the relevant MI350 configurations. AMD MI350 specifications. | NVIDIA lists 64 TB/s for the DGX B200 system. NVIDIA DGX B200 specifications. |
| Scale-up interconnect | AMD describes MI350X and MI355X as multi-die designs connected by Infinity Fabric on-package. The cited specifications do not establish an equivalent system-level bandwidth figure. AMD MI350 microarchitecture documentation. | Two fifth-generation NVLink switches and 14.4 TB/s aggregate NVLink bandwidth for the DGX B200 system. NVIDIA DGX B200 specifications. |
| System power | Not stated for a comparable complete system in the cited MI350 product specifications. | Approximately 14.3 kW maximum system power, not per GPU. NVIDIA DGX B200 specifications. |
AMD’s MI350 family is based on CDNA 4, according to its microarchitecture documentation. For prior-generation context, AMD also publishes a MI300-series product page; a comparison involving MI300 and a newer NVIDIA generation should identify those generations rather than imply a like-for-like matchup.

For model fit, check memory per accelerator and across the system, then account for how the application partitions model weights, activations, cache, and intermediate data. For scaling, consider the interconnect and how the framework distributes work across GPUs. Peak compute or bandwidth alone cannot predict throughput for a particular model, precision, batch size, or serving pattern.

ROCm vs. CUDA: verify the exact software path
AMD describes ROCm as a collection of programming models, tools, compilers, libraries, and runtimes for AI and HPC on Instinct GPUs. Its ROCm 10.0.0 compatibility matrix specifies supported hardware and operating-system configurations for that release. AMD’s workload optimization guide covers kernel programming, HPC, and deep-learning operations with PyTorch for MI300X and MI350X.
NVIDIA documents CUDA compute capability as a description of hardware features and supported instructions, and provides a GPU list by CUDA compute capability. The DGX B200 user guide documents the NVIDIA GPU driver, including CUDA, while NVIDIA positions DGX B200 as an integrated system with a broader AI software stack.

These platform descriptions do not establish how much migration work a specific application would require. Check the actual framework version, operators, custom kernels, libraries, serving runtime, and deployment tools your team uses. Treat compatibility as a release-specific checklist, not a brand-level promise.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Confirm the target accelerator and system are supported by the required operating system, driver, runtime, and framework versions.
- Validate the operators and libraries used by the production model, including custom or less-common paths.
- Check whether the serving, monitoring, orchestration, and update workflows fit the team’s operational practices.
- Estimate engineering time to port, tune, validate quality, and maintain the workload; do not assume the code moves unchanged.
Compare total cost, not just an accelerator quote
The cited sources do not provide comparable purchase prices, cloud rates, or workload-specific performance-per-dollar results. They therefore cannot establish which platform is cheaper. A finance decision should use quotes and measurements for the actual deployment rather than a generic price or performance ratio.

Build the comparison around the same useful output and service target. For training, that might be completed steps or time to a validated model; for inference, it could be requests per second at a defined latency and quality target. Record utilization and include costs that can change the business case:
- Hardware or cloud charges, plus networking, storage, software support, and any integration or financing costs relevant to the deployment.
- Power, cooling, rack capacity, and facility readiness for an on-premises system. The DGX B200’s cited maximum power is a system specification, not a forecast of a particular workload’s consumption.
- Engineering effort for porting, tuning, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Realistic utilization: compare cost per useful training run or served request, not simply acquisition cost divided by theoretical peak capacity.
- Availability and support: downtime, procurement lead time, regional capacity, and the cost of maintaining fallback capacity can affect effective cost.
Use a common workload, quality target, and accounting period for each option. If one system completes the target work faster but sits idle for much of the year, its nominal performance advantage may not translate into a lower cost per result.

Cloud and operational availability need current confirmation
NVIDIA’s Blackwell launch announcement named AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and other providers as expected Blackwell service providers. That is a historical announcement, not confirmation of a currently orderable instance, regional inventory, or price. Check each provider’s current catalog and quote for the needed GPU configuration and location: NVIDIA’s Blackwell launch announcement. The cited materials do not establish current AMD Instinct cloud capacity by region.
For either route, confirm the actual system integrator or cloud configuration, support terms, delivery or provisioning timing, and access to staff who can operate the chosen stack. These are deployment facts to verify for the intended region and date, not conclusions that can be drawn from product-page specifications.
Quick Recap
A practical way to choose
- Inventory the workload. List the models, training or inference patterns, precision, sequence lengths, batch or concurrency targets, quality requirements, and framework dependencies that matter in production.
- Check release compatibility. Match the exact GPU, operating system, driver, runtime, framework, libraries, and application against vendor support documentation for the versions you intend to deploy.
- Confirm model fit and scaling. Establish memory requirements per accelerator and across the system, then assess whether the interconnect and parallelization approach suit the workload.
- Run a representative evaluation. Use comparable configurations and software versions where possible. Measure throughput or latency, output quality, power, and utilization at the intended operating point; record configuration details so results are reproducible.
- Build the financial comparison. Apply current purchase or cloud quotes, energy and facility costs, support, engineering effort, utilization assumptions, and the cost of meeting availability requirements.
- Choose against the business constraint. Favor the platform that meets the required workload and service target with acceptable operational risk and total cost—not the one with the most impressive isolated specification.
