At German retailer Mindfactory, AMD accounted for 86.4% of processor units sold in August 2026, according to figures reported by PC Games Hardware from TechEpiphany’s compilation. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D by itself sold 830 units, compared with 436 units across Intel’s entire processor lineup. But the available comparison does not show Ryzen outselling Alder Lake specifically: a separate 2025 figure counts 200 processors in the LGA1700 group, which includes Alder Lake and later generations.
What Mindfactory’s August 2026 figures show
PC Games Hardware reported that Mindfactory sold 3,205 processors in August 2026. AMD represented 86.4% of those units and Intel 13.6%. Within that total, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D sold 830 units—25.9% of all processors sold—while Intel’s complete portfolio totaled 436 units. The source puts the average selling price at about €348 and says AM5 processors made up 66.8% of sales. PC Games Hardware’s August report attributes the compiled sales figures to TechEpiphany.

The comparison is striking, but its scope matters: one AMD model outsold Intel’s entire lineup at one retailer during one month. It is not a model-for-model comparison, and the reported unit share is not revenue share. The figures are compiled sales reporting, not an audited industry-wide dataset.
Does this prove Ryzen is outselling Alder Lake?
No. The available 200-unit Intel figure is for LGA1700 processors, not Alder Lake alone. In its account of Mindfactory sales for week 34 of 2025, PC Games Hardware reported 3,715 processors sold: 3,395 AMD units (91.4%) and 320 Intel units. Those Intel units were split between 200 LGA1700 processors and 120 LGA1851/Arrow Lake processors. LGA1700 includes Alder Lake and later processor generations, so the 200-unit number cannot be presented as Alder Lake-only sales. The week 34 report describes the LGA1700 group as starting with Alder Lake.

- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
That 2025 weekly count and the August 2026 monthly figures cover different periods, so they should not be treated as a continuous trend or directly compared as if they measured the same sales window.
How the May 2026 report compares
A separate Mindfactory report for May 2026 also showed AMD leading by units: AMD held 90.3% and Intel 9.7% of the 2,835 processors sold. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D was the leading individual model with 810 units, or 28.6% of that month’s total. PC Games Hardware’s May report supplies those figures. May and August are separate monthly snapshots; their different shares illustrate why a retailer’s result for one month should not be read as a fixed market position.

What this says—and does not say—about the CPU market
Mindfactory’s figures describe sales at a single German retailer, not all German or European retail, OEM computer purchases, laptops, or the global processor market. Wider-market shipment estimates tell a different story because they cover a broader channel and use a different measure.

For client CPUs overall, including more than desktop processors, the estimates were 30.3% for AMD and 69.7% for Intel. The report said desktop shipments fell and AMD’s share rose because AMD’s shipments declined less sharply than Intel’s. These shipment estimates are not directly comparable with Mindfactory’s point-of-sale unit counts. Tom’s Hardware’s account of the Q2 estimates explains the broader context.

AMD CEO Lisa Su also said on the company’s Q3 2025 earnings call that “Desktop CPU sales reached an all-time high, with record channel selling and sellout led by robust demand for Ryzen 9,000 processors.” That is AMD’s statement about its own business, not independent verification of Mindfactory’s figures. AMD’s earnings-call page provides the company context.

- Retailer and period: The headline-level evidence is Mindfactory’s August 2026 report, not a market-wide sales census.
- Metric: The 86.4% and 13.6% figures are shares of units sold, not shares of revenue.
- Products compared: The 830-unit Ryzen figure is one model; Intel’s 436-unit figure covers the full Intel portfolio.
- Alder Lake scope: The 200-unit 2025 result counts LGA1700 processors across Alder Lake and later generations, not Alder Lake alone.
- Market context: Broader Q2 2026 shipment estimates still showed Intel leading desktop x86 shipments overall.
Sales counts establish what moved through the reported retailer channel. On their own, they do not establish why buyers chose a processor, how products compare in performance, or which brand leads in every market.
