Its claim that Amazon was the only retailer with comparable discounts should therefore be read as that outlet’s characterization, not as a verified market-wide comparison.
A separate GamesRadar report gave a different 55-inch Amazon price: $1,196.99, describing it as $300 off and noting a brief earlier dip to $1,096. That discrepancy is a reminder that a deal price can change quickly; it is not evidence that either figure remains available.

Which size was the strongest value?
“Best” depends on what you want to optimize. Based only on the four prices Gizmodo listed:
- Largest percentage discount: The 65-inch model, at about 44.6% below its stated comparison price.
- Largest dollar saving: The 77-inch model, with a stated $1,503 reduction.
- Lowest upfront price: The 48-inch model at $996.
- Potential everyday value: The 55-inch can make sense for a general-purpose room, but the $1,296 figure was not the lowest historical price cited: GamesRadar reported $1,196.99 and an earlier short-lived $1,096 dip.
These are comparisons of historical listed prices, not current bargains or a ranking by picture quality. The right screen size also depends on the room, seating arrangement, and personal preference; a larger discount does not make a TV the better fit.

What the LG OLED C4 offers
The C4 is a 4K OLED television. OLED pixels emit their own light, which enables deep blacks and strong contrast—particularly useful for films and other content watched in a controlled-light room. The 2024 deal coverage described the set as using LG’s Alpha 9 Gen 7 processor and supporting Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10.
Gizmodo also cited HDMI 2.1, refresh rates up to 144Hz, and a 0.1ms response time, along with wireless Dolby Atmos and Alexa functionality. Those specifications and smart features should be checked against the exact U.S. model number and its current software configuration; regional versions and model suffixes can differ. A 144Hz specification does not mean every console or PC game will run at 4K and 144 frames per second: the source device, game, cable, port, and settings all matter.

Is a C4 worth buying in 2026?
It can be a good clearance purchase if a live price is materially below newer LG C-series models and comparable alternatives, and the unit is new with clear U.S. warranty coverage. Do not judge the price against the original comparison price alone. Check recent price history and compare the same size and condition with current models.
When it makes sense
- You want OLED contrast and strong gaming support, and the current price is meaningfully lower than newer alternatives.
- The listing is for a new, factory-sealed U.S. model with a warranty you can verify.
- Your room and viewing habits suit OLED, and the price reflects that the C4 is an older generation by 2026.
When to look elsewhere
- The C4 costs nearly as much as a newer model or a similarly priced alternative.
- You need very high brightness for a room with substantial direct sunlight; compare bright-room performance, including mini-LED options.
- You watch static content—such as news tickers or desktop interfaces—for many hours every day and do not want to manage OLED image-retention risk. OLED is not automatically unsuitable for gaming, but prolonged static elements are a relevant trade-off.
