How much revenue does Amazon make in a year? Amazon.com, Inc. reported $716.924 billion in net sales for fiscal 2025, up 12% from fiscal 2024. That is the company’s consolidated sales total—not retail revenue alone—and it combines product sales with services such as AWS, advertising, and third-party seller fees.
What Amazon’s $716.9 billion figure measures
Amazon’s Form 10-K calls the figure “net sales.” It includes product and service sales. Product sales include products, related shipping fees, and certain digital media content recorded gross. Service sales include third-party seller fees, AWS, advertising, Prime membership fees, and some digital-content subscriptions. Physical stores and other offerings are also reported as sales categories. Amazon’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K reports the consolidated total.

That distinction matters: net sales are not a count of goods Amazon sold itself, and the total is not a retail-only measure. Third-party seller services, for example, reflect fees and related services rather than the full value of every item sold by marketplace merchants.
Where fiscal 2025 sales came from
Amazon’s reported business-line sales show how the company-wide total is distributed. Amounts below are for Amazon.com, Inc.’s fiscal year 2025.

| Business line | Fiscal 2025 sales |
|---|---|
| Online stores | $269.287 billion |
| Third-party seller services | $172.162 billion |
| AWS | $128.725 billion |
| Advertising services | $68.635 billion |
| Subscription services | $49.619 billion |
| Physical stores | $22.561 billion |
| Other | $5.935 billion |
| Consolidated net sales | $716.924 billion |
The categories add to the reported consolidated total. Online stores were the largest listed business line, but the scale of third-party seller services and AWS makes clear why describing the entire figure as “Amazon’s retail revenue” would be misleading. The amounts and definitions are from the fiscal 2025 Form 10-K.
How much did sales grow?
Amazon reported fiscal 2024 net sales of $637.959 billion and fiscal 2025 net sales of $716.924 billion. The company reported 12% year-over-year growth. Its filing says foreign-exchange changes increased fiscal 2025 net sales by $4.4 billion; reported consolidated growth was also 12% excluding foreign-exchange effects. These are comparisons of reported company-wide net sales, not profit or merchandise volume. The filing provides the period totals and growth discussion.
How to read the headline statistic
- It shows scale: Amazon’s fiscal 2025 net sales exceeded $700 billion.
- It shows growth: The reported total rose 12% from fiscal 2024.
- It does not show profit: Sales are not the same as earnings, cash flow, or the amount left after expenses.
- It does not establish market share: The total alone cannot show how much of any market Amazon controls.
- It is not gross merchandise volume: The reported figure should not be treated as the total value of every transaction made through Amazon’s stores and marketplace.
For a valid comparison, compare fiscal-year net sales with fiscal-year net sales, or the same segment across the same periods. A retail-only revenue figure, operating income, and gross merchandise volume are different measures and should not be set beside Amazon’s consolidated net sales as if they were interchangeable.
A longer view: AWS’s growth in context
In his 2024 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy wrote: “For perspective, just 10 years ago, AWS revenue was $4.6B; and in that same year, Amazon’s total revenue was $89B.” Those are rounded figures from the letter’s historical comparison, not the fiscal 2025 filing amounts. AWS generated $128.725 billion in fiscal 2025 sales, according to the Form 10-K. The letter’s comparison underscores how much the company’s cloud business has expanded, while the current annual filing remains the source for the latest fiscal-year total. Geographic figures are not simple consumer-market totals
Amazon reported fiscal 2025 net sales of $426.305 billion for North America, $161.894 billion for International, and $128.725 billion for AWS. The company attributes country-based net sales primarily according to country-focused online and physical stores or, for AWS, the selling entity. These reported categories should not be read as directly comparable measures of where consumers live or where every service is used. Amazon describes its geographic reporting in the filing.
