What happened to Amazon Prime Invitees?
Amazon’s Share Your Amazon Prime Benefits help page says Prime benefit sharing through the Invitee program ended on October 1, 2025. The change applies to the shared Prime delivery benefit; it does not mean the former invitee’s Amazon account stopped working.
Can I still share Prime with someone?
Amazon now directs Prime members to Amazon Family for sharing select benefits. Its U.S. customer-help guidance allows a Prime member to share with one other adult in the household, up to four eligible teens, and up to four child profiles. Those limits and the benefits available can depend on the member’s marketplace, account, and current Amazon rules.
What can be shared?
Amazon lists fast, free delivery on Prime-eligible items, Prime events and deals, Prime Video with ads, Prime Reading, Amazon Photos, selected digital content, and certain third-party benefits among the benefits that may be shared. Amazon separately says the other adult in the Family can share Amazon Music Prime, with ad-free listening on shuffle mode. Not every Prime feature or membership benefit transfers to every Family member. Check Amazon’s Amazon Family overview for the current list and account-specific terms.

Who qualifies as the other adult?
The other adult must live with the Prime member at the same primary residential address. Amazon describes this as the address considered home, where the person spends most of their time. Its Amazon Family setup guidance also notes that new Amazon Families use payment sharing by the Family Organizer as part of household verification. Amazon’s payment-sharing information explains this arrangement.
Are teen accounts available?
Teen eligibility is not uniform across Amazon’s help pages. The creation guidance says Amazon stopped accepting new teen additions on April 7, 2025, while existing teen accounts can continue until age 18. Amazon’s current Family information also describes teen additions after January 1, 2026 where available. Because the rules and account flow may vary, check the Family invitation process in the relevant account rather than assuming a household can add a teen.

What should I do if I was a Prime Invitee?
- Ask the Prime member in your household about Amazon Family. If you live at the same primary residential address, ask whether they can invite you as the other adult. The Prime member must be willing and able to add you, and some payment-sharing details may be part of verification.
- Review the benefits you actually need. Confirm that the specific delivery, media, or other benefit you relied on is shareable under the current Amazon Family rules for your account and marketplace.
- Consider an individual Prime membership if Family is not a fit. This is Amazon’s other stated option for former invitees. Compare the current price and terms in your marketplace before deciding; Amazon’s guidance does not establish that either option will cost less for every person.
Amazon says Family members can leave and rejoin their Amazon Family at any time, but someone who leaves and rejoins must wait 12 months before joining a different Amazon Family. See the current Prime benefit-sharing guidance before making a change.
