Porsche announced the move in July 2024, but its announcement did not say that declining sales caused the leadership change. Sales pressure is relevant business context: Porsche reported 14,501 deliveries in China including Hong Kong in the first half of 2026, down 31.9% year over year.
Who replaced Michael Kirsch as Porsche China CEO?
Porsche announced on 20 July 2024 that Alexander Pollich would take over the role from 1 September 2024 at the earliest. Pollich became President and CEO of Porsche China, Hong Kong and Macao. Porsche described him as having more than 23 years with the company, with experience in Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom. Porsche Newsroom’s appointment announcement said Kirsch would move to another position within the group and thanked him for his work in China.
Was the change caused by falling sales?
Porsche did not state that declining sales caused Kirsch’s reassignment. Its 2024 announcement described Pollich’s remit rather than tying the appointment to sales performance. The company said he was to safeguard the operating business and implement a value-oriented, brand-appropriate growth strategy, with closer collaboration with local dealer partners and improved internal processes and structures.
Porsche’s subsequent leadership update provides additional context, not a stated explanation for the 2024 move. On 2 September 2026, the company said the China sales region remained under Pollich’s leadership. It also said Kirsch, then CEO of Porsche Central and Eastern Europe, was scheduled to become CEO of Porsche Cars Australia from 1 January 2027. Porsche’s 2026 sales reorganisation announcement does not retrospectively identify declining China sales as the reason for the succession.

What do Porsche’s China sales figures show?
Porsche reported 14,501 vehicle deliveries in China including Hong Kong from January through June 2026, a 31.9% decrease from the same period a year earlier. These are deliveries to end customers, not revenue. In its Half-Year Financial Report 2026, Porsche said the passenger-car market in China including Hong Kong was significantly lower than in the prior-year period, luxury demand remained negative, and the luxury tax adjustment effective since July 2025 and competition affected market development.
The company said it continued value-oriented sales intended to balance supply and demand. That approach gives useful context to the falling delivery figure: the report describes a difficult market and a sales strategy, rather than attributing the decline to one executive or a single decision.

How does the China decline fit Porsche’s wider results?
Porsche delivered 279,449 vehicles worldwide in 2025, down 10.1% from 310,718 in 2024. The company’s 2026 outlook described continued pressure in China’s luxury segment and intense price competition, particularly for fully electric vehicles. Those global figures and the China half-year result cover different periods and geographies, so they should not be treated as a direct like-for-like comparison. Porsche’s 2026 Annual Press Conference materials provide the global annual totals and outlook.
