Boeing led Airbus in January 2026 on both reported gross commercial-aircraft orders and deliveries. Boeing recorded 107 gross orders to Airbus’s 49. On deliveries, Boeing’s count is reported as either 45 or 46, compared with Airbus’s 19; the one-aircraft discrepancy does not change the monthly result.

CAPA’s summaries of manufacturer-reported results give the gross-order totals and report 45 Boeing deliveries. Forecast International’s 10 February 2026 analysis reports 46 Boeing deliveries and the same Airbus figure of 19. The sources reviewed do not explain the difference. Airbus’s official Orders and Deliveries page lists a January 2026 monthly report; the detailed monthly figures above are from the CAPA and Forecast International summaries.
What the order totals include
The 49 Airbus gross orders comprised 48 A320neo-family aircraft and one A330-900, according to Forecast International. CAPA’s breakdown lists 10 A320-family aircraft for IAG, 30 for Spring Airlines, eight additional A321neos for undisclosed customers, and the A330-900 for Air Algérie.
Boeing’s 107 gross orders included 737 MAX and 787 aircraft. CAPA lists 50 737 MAXs for Aviation Capital Group, 20 737 MAXs for Air India, 30 787-10s for Delta, four 787-9s for EVA Air, and additional 737 MAX orders. Boeing announced Delta’s purchase of 30 787-10s on 13 January, with an opportunity for up to 30 more. Boeing’s announcement describes the purchase and additional opportunity.

Boeing also announced an Alaska Airlines agreement on 7 January covering 105 737-10s and five 787s. That announcement should not be added mechanically to the monthly ledger: an announced agreement is not necessarily counted as a firm order in the same month’s reported orders-and-deliveries figures.
Gross orders are not net orders
The scorecard uses gross orders, not net orders after cancellations or accounting adjustments. Forecast International notes that its article does not include Boeing’s ASC 606 accounting adjustments and describes net orders as gross orders minus cancellations. Those are different measures, so the 107-versus-49 comparison should not be described as a net-order comparison.

What “won January” does—and does not—mean
Forecast International characterized January order activity at both manufacturers as concentrated in narrowbody aircraft. Boeing also recorded widebody 787 orders, while Airbus had one A330 order. That makes the result a comparison of monthly order and delivery volume, not a verdict on aircraft quality, revenue, profit, or long-term competitive position.
For scale beyond one month, Airbus reported 1,000 gross commercial-aircraft orders and 793 commercial deliveries for full-year 2025 in a 12 January 2026 release. That annual Airbus figure provides context, but it is not a like-for-like comparison with Boeing’s January results.
