What “global presence” means in this comparison
For aircraft manufacturers, global presence can refer to where customers operate, where a company employs people, how many aircraft it says are in its worldwide fleet, or how many aircraft it delivers and has on order. Those measures answer different questions. A country count is not interchangeable with a fleet tally, and a backlog is not a count of aircraft already flying.
The available figures support a criterion-based answer: Boeing makes the clearest explicit claim about customer countries and workforce geography; Airbus’s dated figures document substantial commercial-aircraft deliveries, customers, and fleet totals. The sources do not provide a harmonized, same-date comparison for every measure.

Boeing’s stated country footprint
Boeing says its airline and U.S.-allied government customers are in 150 countries. The company’s global-presence page does not clearly state an as-of date for this figure, so it should be read as Boeing’s reported claim rather than a dated, independently standardized comparison. Airbus’s customer reach in 2025
Airbus reported delivering 793 commercial aircraft to 91 customers globally in 2025. That is a dated count of customers receiving deliveries during the year—not a count of every country where Airbus aircraft operate or every customer it serves. Airbus’s FY 2025 results release.
Workforce and operating geography
Boeing says it employs approximately 182,000 people across the United States and in more than 65 countries. Its corporate page does not clearly identify the date for this employee figure. Airbus’s cited figures here do not provide a directly comparable workforce-by-country total, so the evidence supports saying Boeing has published a broad international workforce footprint, not that it employs more people worldwide than Airbus. Airbus’s published fleet tally
Airbus’s orders-and-deliveries table reported 14,631 aircraft in its fleet tally through August 2026, including 11,407 A320-family aircraft. The same table listed 17,233 cumulative deliveries. Boeing’s rounded global-fleet claim
Boeing says more than 14,000 of its airplanes are in the global fleet. The claim is rounded and undated on the company’s global-presence page. Because Airbus’s dated tally and Boeing’s rounded statement may use different definitions and reference dates, their figures do not establish which company has more aircraft actively flying. Annual deliveries and orders show different things
Airbus’s 2025 results report 1,000 gross commercial-aircraft orders and 889 net orders, alongside 793 deliveries. Gross orders count orders before cancellations or other adjustments reflected in the net figure. Deliveries, meanwhile, describe aircraft handed over during that year. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said that “Global demand for commercial aircraft underpins our ongoing production ramp-up, which we are managing while facing significant Pratt & Whitney engine shortages.” He made the statement in the FY 2025 results release published February 19, 2026. Backlog: future demand, not current presence
Airbus’s year-end 2025 backlog
Airbus reported a commercial-aircraft backlog of 8,754 aircraft at the end of 2025. This is a year-end count of orders awaiting delivery, not the number of Airbus aircraft in service. Airbus’s FY 2025 results release.
Boeing’s backlog figures
Boeing’s 2026 Form 10-K reported a Commercial Airplanes backlog valued at $567.290 billion at December 31, 2025. In its Q2 2026 release, Boeing reported a commercial-aircraft backlog of more than 6,200 airplanes valued at a record $597 billion. These figures use different reporting dates and formats: one is a year-end dollar value, while the later release gives both an aircraft count and value. They should not be directly compared with Airbus’s unit-count backlog as if they were the same measure. If “global presence” means the explicitly stated reach of customers across countries and the geographic spread of employees, Boeing has the stronger claim in the available company figures: 150 customer countries and employees across the United States and more than 65 countries, although those claims are undated. If the question is about dated commercial-aircraft activity, Airbus reported 793 deliveries to 91 customers in 2025 and published a fleet tally of 14,631 through August 2026. Boeing’s more-than-14,000 fleet statement is rounded and undated, so the fleet figures do not support a definitive head-to-head winner.
In short, Boeing states a broader country-and-workforce footprint; both manufacturers have large worldwide aircraft and customer footprints. No single figure here measures every dimension of global presence on a common basis.
