Straiker announced its emergence from stealth on March 27, 2025, alongside $21 million in initial funding from Lightspeed Ventures and Bain Capital Ventures. At launch, the company introduced two generally available AI security modules: Ascend AI for security assessment and attack simulation, and Defend AI for runtime protection. The $21 million was its initial financing, not its latest reported total: Straiker said a June 2026 Series A brought its cumulative funding to $85 million.
What Straiker announced at its 2025 launch
On March 27, 2025, Straiker said it was emerging from stealth with $21 million in initial funding from Lightspeed Ventures and Bain Capital Ventures. Contemporary independent coverage also reported the launch, funding amount and availability of the two modules. Straiker’s launch announcement describes the financing and products; Business Wire’s March 2025 coverage corroborated the launch details.

The company’s co-founder and CEO, Ankur Shah, said in the announcement: “Enterprises must act now to stay ahead of these emerging risks and make AI security a top priority.” That is Shah’s statement of the company’s rationale, not an independent finding about the effectiveness of Straiker’s products.
What the two launch modules were designed to do
Straiker described both products as generally available at launch. Their stated roles differed: Ascend AI was for evaluating AI systems, while Defend AI was for protection during operation.

Straiker announced another financing round on June 29, 2026. The company said the $64 million Series A brought its total funding to $85 million. The later round should not be conflated with the $21 million initial financing announced at the 2025 stealth exit.

Straiker identifies Ankur Shah as co-founder and CEO and describes its broader focus as security for agentic AI. Its stated areas include prompt-injection defense, MCP security, autonomous red teaming and runtime protection. The company’s team and company page provides its current positioning; these descriptions do not establish independent product efficacy. Straiker’s newsroom also lists a March 2026 product-expansion announcement, but the later features are not independently assessed here.
