ACBS is enterprise software for commercial lending and loan servicing—not a loan product for individual borrowers. FIS’s 2019 ACBS Commercial Loan System Fact Sheet describes workflows from origination-related deal creation into servicing, with tools for commercial loan structures, interest and fee processing, transaction controls, and reporting. FIS now refers to the solution as FIS Commercial Loan Servicing (formerly ACBS).

What the ACBS Commercial Loan System does

FIS presents ACBS as a platform for managing commercial credit across parts of its lifecycle. The 2019 fact sheet describes customer, facility, and loan information flowing from origination into servicing, where the system is intended to manage financial and non-financial compliance with deal terms. It also lists transaction processing, approvals, task handling, and reporting. These are descriptions from FIS product material, not independently verified performance findings.

FIS’s fact sheet characterizes its Deal Creation into Servicing (DCIS) capability this way: “ACBS Deal Creation into Servicing (DCIS) allows for real time integration of customer, facility and loan information directly from Origination.” The statement reflects the vendor’s description in that 2019 document.

The fact sheet is titled ACBS Commercial Loan System; FIS’s current commercial lending page uses the label FIS Commercial Loan Servicing (formerly ACBS). The page describes it as a commercial lending and loan-servicing solution. The naming update helps identify the product, but does not establish that every capability in the 2019 fact sheet is available in every current deployment.

Commercial loans and deal types listed in the fact sheet

The fact sheet describes configurable processing for multiple commercial credit structures and instruments:

  • Syndications and participations
  • Bilateral loans
  • Real estate and asset-based lending
  • Letters of credit and guarantees
  • Discounted instruments

It also lists multi-currency and multi-portfolio support. These categories indicate the breadth FIS says the system is designed to handle; the document does not specify configuration limits, supported currencies, or the requirements for a particular institution’s implementation.

How ACBS handles loan interest and fees

Interest is a central part of the ACBS commercial loan system description. FIS says the software supports varied interest and fee structures, configurable income and expense classifications, and multiple ways to schedule and account for accruals. Its fact sheet lists these capabilities:

  • Multiple accrual schedules at borrower and/or lender level
  • Straight, tiered, and split accrual methods
  • Accrual-basis and cash-basis accounting
  • Configurable accrual calculation modifiers
  • Straight-line and effective-interest-rate amortization
  • Accruing and fixed fees at deal, facility, and loan levels

The fact sheet also describes back-valued and future-dated transactions, automated balance transfers that can include interest capitalization, and re-amortization tied to index-pricing changes or planned recast periods. Listed transaction processing includes interest and principal, fee payments, and rate resets.

These are general feature descriptions, not a loan calculation recipe. The fact sheet does not specify day-count conventions, index benchmarks, calculation formulas, accounting-standard treatment, or the configuration available to a particular customer. Those details must be confirmed for the relevant product setup and loan documents.

Workflow, approvals, and servicing controls

FIS describes configurable templates and instructions for transactions, with processing that can be queued automatically. For certain payment and rate-reset transactions, the fact sheet says dates and amounts can be pre-populated; validation can flag missing or invalid data. It also lists workflow management, approvals, and portfolio-level policy decisions.

The described monitoring and control functions include:

  • Credit terms, contract limits, and borrowing restrictions
  • Obligor tracking, covenant monitoring, and grid pricing
  • Collateral information capture
  • Escrow support and prepayment-penalty alerts
  • Non-accrual status changes based on bank-defined delinquency thresholds
  • SBA 7(a) servicing and reporting support

These functions are presented as product capabilities; the fact sheet does not establish how any particular bank implements them or what operational results it achieves.

What the fact sheet can—and cannot—tell a buyer

The FIS fact sheet is useful for understanding the product’s stated scope: commercial-loan lifecycle processing, interest and fees, operational workflow, and controls. It is vendor material with a 2019 copyright, so it should not be treated as a current deployment specification or independent assessment. It supplies no product pricing, implementation timeline, competitor ranking, or independent performance figures. A prospective institution would need current product documentation and an implementation-specific discussion to verify requirements such as integrations, accounting configuration, and supported transaction rules.

For additional context, LANSA also publishes a third-party overview of the ACBS Loan System – Advanced Commercial Banking System; it is not a substitute for current specifications from FIS.
