What is AAVRANI Scalp Rescue Serum?
AAVRANI’s official product page calls it Scalp Rescue Serum; the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s DailyMed label calls it AAVRANI Dry Scalp Rescue Serum. Sephora describes it as an anti-dandruff scalp serum with salicylic acid for a congested, flaky scalp. It comes in a 60 ml (2 fl oz) bottle. AAVRANI listed it for $42 when its product page was reviewed; price and availability can change. AAVRANI’s product page and Sephora’s listing show the product descriptions.
The brand describes a lightweight, milky-gel texture with a nozzle applicator. It is meant to go directly on the scalp, on wet or dry hair, and stay in rather than be rinsed out. Those are product-format claims, not guarantees about how it will feel on every scalp or hair type.
Active ingredient and directions
The DailyMed label lists 1.8% salicylic acid as the active ingredient and “Anti-Dandruff” as its purpose. Its labeled use is “For the relief of scalp flaking, itching and irritation associated with dandruff.” Salicylic acid is also an ingredient used in dandruff shampoos, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).

The full formula also lists neem leaf extract, oat kernel flour, aloe, allantoin, argan oil, peppermint oil, niacinamide and panthenol. Ingredient presence alone does not show that the serum will produce a particular result.
- Part the hair and use the nozzle tip to apply the serum directly to affected scalp areas.
- Massage gently, then style as usual. The label says not to rinse it out.
- The label directs use one to four times daily or as directed by a doctor; AAVRANI’s product page says to use it daily for best results. Follow the label and consult a healthcare professional if you are unsure which schedule is appropriate.
The label warns to use the product externally only, avoid eye contact and rinse thoroughly if it gets in the eyes. Do not use it if you are allergic to a listed ingredient. Stop and ask a doctor if the condition worsens or does not improve after regular use, and keep the product out of children’s reach. The label also says to ask a doctor or pharmacist before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding. AAVRANI and Sephora describe the formula as suitable during pregnancy or nursing, but that marketing language does not replace the label’s more cautious direction. Read the DailyMed label.

What the efficacy claims establish
AAVRANI reports results from a four-week consumer study involving 35 subjects who suffer from dry or itchy scalp. The brand lists these outcomes, with no study year stated on its product page:
- 9 in 10 experienced relief in itchiness after one use.
- 100% found the product instantly soothing to the scalp.
- 97% saw a decrease in dandruff on the scalp and hair.
Sephora repeats the figures. The pages retrieved do not describe the study protocol, comparison group, blinding, outcome measurements or publication, and they do not establish independent verification. These are brand-reported consumer-study results—not evidence from an independently verified clinical trial or proof that the serum will work for a particular person. The DailyMed label confirms the active ingredient, labeled use, directions and warnings; it is not an efficacy comparison. Serum or dandruff shampoo?
The practical difference is the routine: this product is a leave-in serum applied to selected scalp areas, while dandruff shampoos are used and rinsed according to their individual instructions. AAD lists several active ingredients found in dandruff shampoos, including salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione, sulfur, selenium sulfide, ketoconazole and coal tar. A shampoo may offer a different active ingredient or regimen, but the right choice depends on the product directions and your hair and scalp needs.
AAD advises following the selected product’s instructions and tailoring shampoo use to hair type; medicated shampoos may dry curly or coily hair. A serum’s nozzle may make targeted application convenient, but AAVRANI does not establish that its format is more effective, less drying or a better value than shampoo. If you are comparing costs, the brand’s $42 listing is for a 60 ml bottle; the material available here does not establish how long one bottle lasts or the cost of an equivalent shampoo routine.

Who might consider it—and what to watch for
The serum may suit someone looking for a leave-in option to target flaky or itchy areas rather than adding a rinse-out treatment. The brand’s directions allow application to wet or dry scalp. Individual tolerance and preferences matter: customer reviews on the manufacturer’s page include reports of a cooling or soothing sensation and reduced itch or flaking, alongside comments about irritation, a sticky feel and nozzle usability. These are personal anecdotes, not controlled or representative evidence; one person’s reaction does not predict yours.
“Dry scalp rescue serum” is a product name, not a diagnosis. Flakes and itching can have causes beyond dandruff, including seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, fungal infection or eczema. The AAD notes that dandruff is not caused by poor hygiene and recommends seeing a dermatologist if symptoms are severe or do not improve. Persistent, worsening or severe symptoms warrant medical advice rather than relying on a cosmetic-style product description. Its main trade-off is evidence: the encouraging percentages come from a small brand-reported consumer study whose methods and independent verification are not established in the available product materials. At $42 as listed by AAVRANI at research time, it is best viewed as a convenient format to consider—not as a proven upgrade over dandruff shampoo or a substitute for diagnosis when scalp symptoms persist.
