Yes: a 2012 Lexus LFA sold for $1,105,000 at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction in 2023. That documented sale shows an LFA can cross the $1 million mark; other recorded LFA transactions in the available records sold for less. The auction house described the million-dollar car as serial number 188 of 500, with 47 miles at cataloguing.
What happened at the $1.105 million sale?
RM Sotheby’s recorded the 2012 LFA sale at its Monterey 2023 auction for $1,105,000. Its catalog identified the car as the 188th of 500 produced and reported 47 miles at cataloguing. The result is a specific auction outcome, not a price that applies to every LFA. RM Sotheby’s lot record
How many Lexus LFAs were made, and when did production end?
Lexus said the final LFA left its Motomachi Plant in Aichi Prefecture on December 14, 2012. Production had begun on December 15, 2010, at about one car per day. Lexus’s 2010 announcement planned a worldwide run of 500 cars. Lexus’s end-of-production announcement and Lexus’s 2010 pricing announcement
RM Sotheby’s catalog descriptions break down the run as 436 standard LFAs and 64 Nürburgring Package examples. That package distinction matters when comparing sale results; the auction records do not make the cars interchangeable. RM Sotheby’s 2021 lot record

What did the LFA cost new, and what do selected sale records show?
Lexus announced a U.S. MSRP of $375,000 for the 2012 LFA in February 2010, excluding delivery, processing, and handling. The table compares that announced list price with selected recorded transactions; it is not a price index, and the listed sales differ in date, venue, mileage information, and potentially specification.

Why don’t these sales establish a standard LFA price?
The records show individual transactions rather than a formal model-wide price index. A car’s mileage and condition, its specification—including whether it is a Nürburgring Package example—and the sale date and venue all affect how useful one result is as a comparison. Where a record does not provide a detail, it should not be assumed.

The selected results also do not show that LFAs as a group consistently sell above $1 million: the 2022 Bring a Trailer result was $780,000, and the April 2024 result was $910,611. The 2023 Monterey sale establishes that one documented LFA exceeded seven figures, not that every owner could expect the same price or that the model has delivered a particular investment return.

In its 2010 U.S. announcement, Lexus specified a 4.8-liter V10 producing 552 horsepower at 8,700 rpm, a six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox, and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic construction for the chassis and bodywork. Those manufacturer specifications help identify the car, but they do not explain the price of any one auction result. Lexus’s 2010 announcement
