A Chiropractor Recommends the Restcloud Neck Stretcher: What to Know About Price, Use, and Safety

Shape’s $20 Restcloud Neck Stretcher price dates to September 2025. Here’s what the chiropractors said, what the evidence does not establish, and why to consult a clinician before home traction.

Shape’s September 24, 2025 article quoted two chiropractors discussing the Restcloud Neck Stretcher, a curved foam support used for a passive neck stretch. Shape listed it at $20 on Amazon at the time; that is a dated price, not a current quote. The comments describe the chiropractors’ views and suggestions, not proof that this specific product treats neck pain. Because home cervical traction is not appropriate for everyone, ask a healthcare provider before trying it.

What the Restcloud Neck Stretcher is

RestCloud describes its Neck Stretcher as a portable, curved cervical support that uses gravity and body weight to create a passive stretch. The company says it offers vertical and horizontal support and a curvature stretch; those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent findings that the device relieves pain or changes spinal alignment.

Shape described the matching product as a dense foam device with six massage nodes. NBC Select’s September 8, 2026 comparison called the Restcloud Neck and Shoulder Relaxer a small, C-shaped foam cushion. AccessGUDID lists the brand as Restcloud and the model as B086JP4BS4, with commercial distribution status. Its database classification as a non-prescription, over-the-counter cervical orthosis does not establish that a particular treatment claim has been clinically proven.

What the chiropractors told Shape

Matt Tanneberg on neck extension

Shape quoted Dr. Matt Tanneberg, a chiropractor and owner of Body Check Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation in Arizona: “Neck stretchers help to maintain the curvature of the cervical spine by encouraging extension of the neck.” This is Tanneberg’s view as reported by Shape; it should not be read as evidence that this model preserves spinal curvature or benefits every user.

Dustin DebRoy on positioning and comfort

Shape reported that chiropractor Dr. Dustin DebRoy said a stretch should feel supportive, not painful. For an initial position, he suggested placing the device’s convex side on a firm surface, lying on your back with knees bent and feet flat, and beginning with about 10 minutes. Shape says he suggested trying the concave side only after becoming comfortable with the initial position and if more support is needed.

Tanneberg cautioned against using the stretcher like an ordinary pillow and said it should meet the shoulders without a gap. These are interviewees’ suggestions reported by Shape, not a universal setup or a substitute for clinician guidance. Stop if use causes pain.

Does a neck stretcher work?

Cervical traction generally means applying a light pull to the head to create space between the vertebrae in the neck. Cleveland Clinic says traction may reduce pain, stiffness, or tension for some people, but it may not work for everyone, and studies of long-term benefit are limited. That general information does not demonstrate that a passive foam support like the Restcloud works for a particular condition.

The available sources do not establish product-specific clinical efficacy for this Restcloud model. Its shape, massage nodes, product classification, and chiropractors’ comments are not proof that it treats neck pain. A 2005 chiropractic clinical practice guideline said there was insufficient published evidence to support or refute narrow generalizations about modalities including traction, and recommended fitting modality and dosage to the patient’s situation; its age means it should not be treated as current consensus.

Is it safe to use cervical traction at home?

Cleveland Clinic advises consulting a healthcare provider before starting home traction and following the device’s instructions and warnings. It lists conditions that may make traction unsafe, including prior cervical fusion, pregnancy, osteoporosis, aneurysm, spinal cord tumor, myelopathy, and untreated high blood pressure. This is not an exhaustive screening list, so a clinician can help assess risks specific to you.

Seek medical care if traction is followed by new or worsening pain, numbness or tingling in a limb, vision changes, or headaches. Do not continue through pain in an effort to get used to the device.

How much does the Restcloud Neck Stretcher cost?

The title’s $20 figure comes from Shape’s September 24, 2025 article, which gave that Amazon price at publication. Later snapshots differed: NBC Select displayed an Amazon range of $17.99–$19.99 in its September 8, 2026 update, while RestCloud’s official product page displayed $21.99 and “Out of stock” when accessed October 7, 2026. Prices and stock can change, so check the seller’s live listing before purchase.

How it differs from other neck-support options

NBC Select’s comparison includes a foam cushion such as the Restcloud, a pump-style cervical traction device, and a cervical support pillow. These are different product types: a pillow supports the neck during rest, while traction devices are intended to apply a stretching force. The available sources do not establish that one category is better for every person.
