Which lid is better for carrying?
Stanley: flexible drinking positions, but not a leakproof promise
The Quencher’s FlowState lid rotates between a straw opening, a drink opening, and a full-cover position. Stanley says the straw position is designed to resist splashes. If you need to put the tumbler in a bag or expect it to tip, do not treat that as a guarantee against leaks: Stanley’s cited description does not call it leakproof.
YETI: a closed straw lid YETI calls leakproof
The YETI mug’s quick-flip straw lid is intended to close for travel, and YETI says the mug is leakproof when shut. That manufacturer claim is a meaningful distinction from Stanley’s stated splash resistance, but it is not an independent spill test. If a closed, straw-equipped lid is your priority, YETI makes the stronger stated claim.
How cold do they keep drinks?
Stanley says the Quencher’s double-wall vacuum insulation keeps water cold for 9 hours and iced for 40 hours. Those figures are Stanley’s product claim; they are not independent measurements, and they should not be used to conclude that Stanley outperforms YETI. The cited YETI product page does not provide a directly comparable time-based cold-retention figure.

Are both tumblers suitable for a car cup holder?
Both brands describe their tumbler as suitable for cup-holder use. Stanley lists a 3.15-inch base and says sizes up to 40 oz fit most car and truck cupholders. YETI states that the Travel Straw Mug is cup-holder compatible. Actual holders vary, so check the holder’s usable diameter against the tumbler’s base and consider nearby console clearance; nominal capacity alone does not determine fit.
What should you know about weight, cleaning, and drink use?
Weight and dimensions
Stanley lists the 30 oz Quencher at 1.1 lb and 3.46 × 5.4 × 10.8 inches. YETI lists its 30 oz Travel Straw Mug at 1.78 lb and 5.5 × 8.3 inches. These are empty-product specifications from the brands, not filled weights. Adding 30 oz of liquid increases the weight substantially, and the quoted dimensions are not necessarily measured using identical conventions.

Cleaning
Both manufacturers say their tumblers are dishwasher-safe. Follow the current care guidance for the exact lid and product generation, especially if replacing parts.
YETI’s beverage restrictions
YETI says to use the Travel Straw Mug only for cold or room-temperature drinks. Its FAQ says it is “not intended for hot beverages” and warns against hot, carbonated, or pulp beverages and storing food or perishables. See YETI’s drinkware FAQ for its guidance.

Replacement lids and warranty
YETI’s FAQ says its large replacement lid fits the 30 oz and 40 oz Travel Straw Mugs. Confirm that a replacement part matches your exact mug generation before ordering. YETI states that its drinkware has a five-year warranty; the cited Stanley listing does not establish an equivalent warranty term, so this comparison cannot determine which brand offers the better warranty. Check each brand’s current warranty and parts policies before purchase.

At the listed U.S. prices accessed in 2026, the Stanley was $40 and the YETI was $45, a $5 difference. These are time-sensitive manufacturer-page prices, not guaranteed current prices or third-party retailer quotes. For a personal-finance decision, compare the current price with the feature you will actually use: Stanley’s rotating lid positions and lighter listed empty weight, or YETI’s stated leakproof-when-closed lid and five-year drinkware warranty. Neither brand’s cited specifications establish superior durability or value over the other.
