The figures describe one month in China and do not establish OPPO’s current standing.
What the 54% growth figure measures
The 54% figure is the year-over-year growth in estimated foldable-phone sales across China in January 2023—not OPPO’s growth rate and not a 54% market share. The category also grew 57% compared with December 2022, CINNO reported. The company did not provide absolute January unit totals or a methodology description in the article, so these rates should not be converted into unit counts. CINNO Research’s report was published on February 20, 2023.
For longer-term context, CINNO said China sold 2.83 million foldable phones in 2022, a 144.4% increase from 2021. That is an annual estimate from the same source, not a January 2023 total.
How OPPO became the leading brand
OPPO held 30% of China’s foldable-phone market in January 2023, up 22.1 percentage points from a year earlier. Its foldable-phone sales grew 483% year over year, a separate measure from share: the first is the change in OPPO sales, while the second is OPPO’s portion of all sales in the market. CINNO attributed OPPO’s result to the Find N2 and Find N2 Flip, and said the Find N2 Flip was January’s leading single foldable-phone model in China.

Shares are the brands’ portions of the total Chinese foldable-phone market in January 2023; growth rates compare each brand’s sales with January 2022. The reported percentages do not describe global sales or current market positions. CINNO attributed Huawei’s decline partly to a high comparison base, saying Pocket S launched earlier than its predecessor P50 Pocket, whose sales were concentrated in January 2022. That is the firm’s explanation, rather than an independently established cause.
Where OPPO’s advantage was strongest
Vertical-folding phones
Vertical-folding phones accounted for 42% of China’s foldable-phone sales in January 2023, up 2 percentage points year over year. Within that form-factor segment, OPPO held 44% share, ahead of Huawei at 31% and Samsung at 23%. Those are shares of vertical-folding phones—not shares of the entire foldable market. CINNO described vertical folding as having advantages such as portability and software adaptation; its report did not present comparative test results establishing those claims.
The 5,000–9,999 CNY price band
Phones priced from 5,000 to 9,999 CNY accounted for 81% of Chinese foldable-phone sales in January 2023, up 31 percentage points year over year. OPPO held 47% share within that band. CINNO placed the Find N2 Flip in the 6,000 CNY tier. These are historical Chinese-market price categories, not current prices or international retail guidance.

The price-band shifts help explain the setting in which OPPO led: most sales fell into the 5,000–9,999 CNY range, where OPPO’s share was especially high. They do not show that price alone caused the brand’s lead.

What this snapshot does—and does not—show
CINNO’s figures support a specific conclusion: OPPO was China’s largest foldable-phone brand by sales share in January 2023, driven in the report’s account by Find N2 and Find N2 Flip, with the latter topping single-model sales. The source does not publish independently audited model counts, confidence intervals, or a methodology description alongside the figures. Treat the reported values as CINNO’s market estimates for that month, rather than a definitive measure of today’s market.
CLS’s contemporaneous report also cited 54% year-over-year category growth, 57% month-over-month growth and OPPO’s 483% growth. Gizmochina’s English-language coverage repeated the 30% share and model context. CINNO is the source for the detailed figures above.
