Walmart, eBay, and Etsy offer marketplace discovery; Shopify gives you a branded store but requires you to attract shoppers; Mercado Libre is a route to Latin American buyers. There is no universal replacement for Amazon, so choose a channel that fits your products, margins, and ability to manage another sales operation.
The title’s referenced eight-platform list cannot be confirmed from the available material. Rather than guess at the missing entries, this guide compares five channels described in a seller-focused guide published October 1, 2026, and explains how to evaluate a small launch before committing more inventory.
Which Amazon alternative fits your business?
These options are not interchangeable. A marketplace may provide a place for shoppers to discover products, while a direct storefront gives you more control over your brand but leaves traffic generation to you. The descriptions below reflect a commercial guide by Informed Repricer, a repricing-software vendor; they are not the result of independent platform testing.
| Channel | Best fit described by the guide | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart Marketplace | An additional general marketplace | Business application review, category-specific fees, and a choice between self-fulfillment and Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS). |
| eBay | Used goods, collectibles, and price-sensitive new products | Final value fees vary by category, and account limits can affect new sellers. |
| Etsy | Handmade goods, vintage items, and craft supplies | Product and audience fit matter, and several types of selling charges apply. |
| Shopify | A branded direct-to-consumer storefront | You must bring shoppers to the store; plan and payment costs depend on your setup. |
| Mercado Libre | Reaching buyers in Latin America | Fees, fulfillment options, and operating requirements need to be checked for the target country. |
Walmart Marketplace
Walmart can add a general marketplace alongside Amazon, but it is not simply a matter of copying listings. The guide says Walmart reviews business applications. Its cited referral-fee examples are 15% for books and 8% for Camera & Photo and Consumer Electronics; other categories vary, and some apparel fees use price bands. These figures come from Informed Repricer’s October 1, 2026 guide, not a verified Walmart fee schedule. Check the current rate for your category and compare self-fulfillment with WFS using your own product dimensions, shipping costs, and expected order volume.

eBay
eBay is a natural candidate to test for used goods and collectibles, as well as new products where shoppers are price-sensitive. The guide gives no single universal final value fee: it says the rate varies by category. It also notes that account limits can affect new sellers. Before listing, confirm your account’s selling limits and calculate the applicable fee for each product rather than relying on a general rate.
Etsy
Etsy is most relevant when your products fit its handmade, vintage, or craft-supply audience. Informed Repricer’s October 1, 2026 guide reports a $0.20 USD listing fee per listing and a 6.5% transaction fee on the displayed price per order; payment processing adds a country-dependent charge. Treat these as attributed guide figures, not independently verified current terms. Confirm the charges that apply to your country and listing before pricing products.
Shopify
Shopify lets you build a branded direct-to-consumer storefront rather than sell inside a marketplace. That changes the traffic equation: you are responsible for attracting customers, so a store is not automatically a substitute for Amazon’s discovery. The guide says plan prices and transaction charges depend on the plan and payment provider. Check the current terms for your intended setup and include customer acquisition costs in your margin model.

- Download "RONGTA" app for phone to bluetooth print
- Download computer driver for PC/Laptop to USB print

Mercado Libre
Mercado Libre is the option in this group associated with reaching Latin American buyers. The Informed Repricer guide reports Classic and Premium selling fees of 12.5% and 16.5%, respectively, plus a per-unit fee. These are volatile figures from a commercial guide, not a verified current schedule; the relevant market’s pricing and fulfillment terms must be checked before launch. Country-specific requirements and shipping arrangements can materially affect whether a product is viable there.

Compare total profit per order, not just selling fees
A referral or transaction fee is only one part of the cost of a sale. Informed Repricer warns that a useful comparison should include platform and payment charges, fulfillment or shipping, returns, and advertising. Its fee examples do not establish which channel is most profitable: the answer depends on your category, selling price, shipping profile, and costs.
For each candidate product, use a simple contribution-margin calculation:

Expected contribution per order = selling price − platform and payment charges − fulfillment or shipping − expected returns cost − advertising cost.
Use the relevant rate for the SKU and country, not an average across your catalog. For example, a marketplace with a lower headline charge may still leave less profit if shipping, returns, or advertising cost more. A direct storefront may avoid some marketplace charges but require meaningful spending or effort to generate visits.

Adding a channel creates work beyond uploading product descriptions. The guide identifies product identifiers, listing and variation mapping, shipping profiles, inventory synchronization, and customer-service performance as important operational considerations. A listing that is inaccurate, out of stock, or incompatible with the channel’s shipping expectations can make a promising fee comparison irrelevant.

- Catalog: Select products with reliable identifiers, complete information, and variations you can map correctly.
- Inventory: Decide how stock will be synchronized across channels so the same unit is not promised twice.
- Fulfillment: Compare the channel’s delivery expectations with your shipping capacity, or model the cost of its fulfillment service where available.
- Returns and service: Account for returns and confirm you can meet customer-service expectations on another platform.
- Eligibility and tax: Verify seller eligibility, tax collection, and current selling terms directly with the platform for your target country.
How to test a new channel without overcommitting
- Choose a small launch set. Start with a limited group of products whose identifiers, listing details, margins, and fulfillment are straightforward.
- Confirm current terms. Check category fees, eligibility, tax handling, fulfillment choices, and shipping expectations on the platform’s own current pages before publishing listings.
- Model each SKU. Subtract platform and payment charges, shipping or fulfillment, expected returns, and advertising from the selling price.
- Prepare operations. Map listings and variations, set shipping profiles, and establish how inventory and customer inquiries will be handled.
- Review actual orders before adding products. Track contribution margin, conversion, delivery performance, and account health. Expand only when the channel works economically and operationally for your business.
This staged approach follows operational advice in Informed Repricer’s October 1, 2026 guide. It is a practical way to limit exposure, not a guarantee of sales or profitability.
Should you replace Amazon or diversify alongside it?
The seller-focused guide frames these channels as ways to diversify demand, not necessarily as reasons to leave Amazon. No single option should be assumed to reproduce Amazon’s traffic. Adding a well-matched channel can reduce dependence on one source of sales, but it also spreads inventory, customer service, and account-health work across more systems. The right test is whether the additional channel produces worthwhile contribution margin after those costs.
The title’s reference to eight alternatives cannot be verified from the available excerpt of Website Builder Expert’s article. That excerpt names Etsy, eBay, Walmart, Newegg, and ASOS, and says Shopify is recommended for sellers with more than ten products, but it does not establish the complete list or the evaluation behind it. Newegg and ASOS are therefore not assessed here.
