Arbonum co-founder and CEO Roman Gordy describes the company as a way for businesses to invite international contractors, organize work, approve results and manage payments alongside paperwork and support. In an interview with TechBullion published April 29, 2024, he presents the service as an administrative hub for cross-border contractor relationships—not as a general guide to remote-team culture. The interview records Gordy’s account; it does not independently verify the company’s capabilities or claims.

What does Arbonum do, according to Gordy?

Gordy says he co-founded Arbonum in 2020 to reduce paperwork and financial friction for creative professionals. His description starts with a company inviting remote contractors into an account, assigning tasks, approving completed work and paying people across borders. He says the service coordinates banking interfaces and compliance-related processes, including considerations around local labor and tax rules. The interview does not include technical documentation or a current feature list, so this is a description of the service as Gordy presented it in 2024.

He sums up the operational idea as “It’s like an airport control center.” The metaphor points to coordination across several moving parts—work, contracts, payments and people—rather than proving that every part is automated or available in every country.

Where does the administrative friction arise?

In Gordy’s account, companies hiring internationally face practical questions before and after work begins: how to onboard someone, document the relationship, pay them in their country, and handle local requirements. Contractors may also need help understanding paperwork or obtaining documents for their own circumstances. He argues that these tasks can distract creative workers from paid work, estimating that contractors spend “about 20%” of their time on administration. The interview gives no calculation or outside source for that estimate, so it should be treated as Gordy’s estimate rather than a measured industry statistic.

His examples are specific rather than representative customer profiles. He describes a game-development team working with a Nigerian 3D artist and Colombian voice-over contractors, and says clients have contractors in Nigeria, South America and the Middle East. These examples illustrate the cross-border situations he says the company supports; they do not establish typical coverage or outcomes.

What onboarding and contractor support does he describe?

Gordy says onboarding is intended to address uncertainty around paying people in different countries, taxes and securing rights to work. He also gives examples of individualized assistance: helping a contractor obtain proof of income for a visa application, providing custom contract forms, and helping arrange universal health insurance for a contractor relocating abroad.

The interview does not specify who qualifies for these forms of help, which countries or policies are involved, whether insurance is included, or what terms apply. A business evaluating any contractor platform should confirm those details directly and distinguish administrative assistance from legal, tax or insurance advice.

What does Gordy say about payment speed?

Gordy contrasts a cross-border payment process that might take two to three weeks in one scenario with a process he says can be completed through Arbonum in two clicks, with recipients sometimes getting the money within minutes. These are his illustrative claims in the 2024 interview, not a published service-level guarantee or independently tested timing. Actual payment speed can depend on country, currency, banking rails, compliance checks and the recipient’s account; the interview does not set out those conditions.

How does Arbonum say it differentiates itself?

Gordy emphasizes familiarity with markets where banking access and expectations may differ from those in North America and Western Europe. He also contrasts hands-on onboarding with what he characterizes as depersonalized metrics, and says the company is building a partner network for advice on local tax rules and relocation. The interview names no external partner or service terms, so it does not establish what advice is available in a particular country.

For scale, Gordy says Arbonum coordinates “hundreds of teams and tens of thousands of contractors.” He also names teams from Konami among its clients and says customers include software developers with people across five continents. His LinkedIn post about the interview describes “50+ teams.” These are founder statements, not independently verified figures; the interview and post provide no methodology, client case study or supporting documentation.

Gordy’s broader view of contractor welfare is captured in another line from the interview: “There is just one step from digital nomads to digital slaves.” He uses the warning to argue that businesses should attend to the conditions and support surrounding remote work. It is a point of view, not evidence that a particular platform guarantees better working conditions.

What should a business verify before choosing a service?

The interview raises useful decision questions, but it does not compare Arbonum with named competitors or establish that it leads on any measure. Before adopting a contractor-management service, a business can ask:

What the interview establishes—and what it does not

The TechBullion interview by Angela Scott-Briggs, dated April 29, 2024, establishes how Gordy framed Arbonum’s purpose and operations at that time. It documents his descriptions of work coordination, cross-border payments, compliance-related processes, contractor support and the company’s claimed scale. It does not independently establish current product availability, country-by-country coverage, payment performance, customer totals, insurance terms or legal compliance outcomes. Readers should treat those points as interview claims and seek current written terms before relying on them.

Gordy’s personal site describes him as a film director and director of photography, identifies him as an Arbonum co-founder, and lists the TechBullion interview among his press appearances. That context does not independently substantiate the service claims.
