On April 4, 2025, Bloomberg reported that Klarna and StubHub were pausing plans for U.S. initial public offerings after broad U.S. tariff announcements and a market selloff. Bloomberg attributed the explanation to people familiar with the matter, not to named company representatives. Both companies later filed IPO paperwork in March and had been preparing to market shares, according to the report.

Why did Klarna and StubHub pause their IPO plans?

Bloomberg News reported on April 4, 2025, that both companies were putting their planned offerings on hold amid tariff-related market turmoil. The report cited unnamed people familiar with the matter; it did not present the explanation as a public announcement from either company. Bloomberg’s report said the companies had filed with the SEC in March and were preparing to market shares to investors.

The reported connection is that the sudden policy announcements and market selloff made the timing for launching an IPO less favorable. An IPO depends on investor demand and workable market conditions to price and sell shares. The available report does not establish that tariffs directly changed either company’s business plans, nor does it quote a named company official explaining the decision.

What had each company filed?

StubHub Holdings Inc. StubHub’s SEC EDGAR record lists its Form S-1 filing date as March 21, 2025. SEC filing index It was preparing to market shares before the reported pause.

What did the pause mean for the offerings?

The April report described a delay in planned offerings, not a cancellation. A pause meant the companies were not moving forward with marketing shares on the original near-term timetable as markets reacted to tariffs. The report did not establish a revised launch date or final offering terms for either company at that point.
