The application deadline for Jawaharlal Nehru University’s 2025–26 PhD admissions has passed. JNU’s admissions portal lists July 28, 2025 as the final extended date for applications through NET, JRF and GATE. JNU now lists PhD material for 2026–27, so use the university’s official admissions page for current notices rather than an expired 2025 application form.
Has the JNU PhD application deadline passed?
Yes. The 2025–26 application window is closed. The original schedule gave candidates June 26 to July 7, 2025 to apply online, followed by a correction window on July 8–9. JNU then extended the deadline more than once; its admissions portal lists July 28, 2025 as the latest final date established for NET, JRF and GATE application forms.
The 2025 dates are historical, not a deadline for the current admission cycle. JNU’s listings now include PhD material for academic year 2026–27, but the current cycle’s application dates and detailed requirements are not established here.
Where is the direct link for JNU PhD admissions?
Use JNU’s official admissions page to find current PhD notices, schedules and application links. Historical form links may no longer accept applications, so do not treat a 2025 form as active. Check the latest notice and schedule on the official page before relying on any deadline.

What were the 2025–26 application routes and rules?
JNU’s 2025–26 prospectus described admission routes through UGC/CSIR NET, specified JRF fellowships, and GATE for School of Engineering PhD programmes. Applicants had to meet the educational qualification and relevant examination-subject requirements for the school or centre they selected.
- Application method: Applications were online only; the prospectus stated, “No offline application for admission will be entertained.”
- Study fields: Applicants could rank up to three fields of study.
- GATE: Candidates with GATE scores were eligible through this route for School of Engineering PhD programmes only.
These are rules from the 2025–26 prospectus. Confirm the current cycle’s prospectus before applying, since requirements may change.
