Yes. India Post’s first merit list for the July 2024 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment cycle was reported as announced on August 20, 2024. To check it, visit the official India Post GDS July 2024 portal, choose your circle under “GDS Online Engagement Schedule, July-2024 Shortlisted Candidates,” and open the first-list PDF for that circle.
How to download the first GDS merit list
- Go to the official India Post GDS July 2024 portal.
- Find the section titled “GDS Online Engagement Schedule, July-2024 Shortlisted Candidates.”
- Select the circle relevant to your application, then choose List-I rather than a later supplementary list if you are looking for the first merit list.
- Open or download the shortlist file. You can use the PDF’s search function to look for your registration details; keep a printout if you need a paper reference.
The portal may show later supplementary lists, including List VI in the version retrieved for this article. Its contents can change, so check the live portal for the latest list number and the file for your circle.
Which circle’s shortlist should you check?
Choose the circle under which you applied. The August 20, 2024 announcement initially covered Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal. It said results for other circles would follow. The announcement, reproduced by Scroll.in, read: “GDS Online Engagement Schedule, July-2024 : List-I of Shortlisted Candidates Published for Circles – Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal. Results of other circles will be released shortly,”
Check the circle and list stage shown on the portal before opening a PDF. The first list is not necessarily the latest shortlist available, and a later supplementary list is a separate result document.

What the 2024 result announcement covered
The July 2024 recruitment cycle was reported to have 44,228 vacancies, with registration open from July 15 through August 5, 2024, according to Scroll.in’s contemporaneous report. These figures describe that completed recruitment cycle; they are not current vacancy or application details.
