Ignite – National Technology Fund says selection is complete for Batches 1 and 2 of Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Cloud Program for Startups. Its current page reports 80 of 100 target startups inducted and describes 20 Tier 2 places as an advancement opportunity for existing participants who completed Tier 1—not as a general intake for new startups. Check Ignite’s current program page for a future round before preparing an application.
What the program offers—and what the reimbursement caps mean
The Prime Minister’s Cloud Program for Startups is administered by Ignite – National Technology Fund under Pakistan’s Ministry of IT & Telecom. It combines cloud-cost reimbursement with technical advice for eligible Pakistani startups using, or planning to use, cloud infrastructure. Ignite’s current program page lists these maximums:
| Tier | Maximum reimbursement rate | Maximum amount |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | Up to 60% | USD 6,000 |
| Tier 2 | Up to 30% | USD 7,500 |
These are tier-specific ceilings, not guaranteed grants, upfront cloud credits, or promises that Ignite will pay a startup’s full bill. The amount available to a selected startup depends on its approved tier and Cloud Credit Utilization Roadmap, eligible documented expenses, and claim validation. Ignite’s official Batch 2 post describes the two caps together as USD 13,500; that combined figure does not change the separate limits or establish that a new applicant can currently access either tier. See Ignite’s program page and its official Batch 2 post.
Who should apply?
For a future open intake, Ignite’s launch page describes the intended applicants as Pakistani technology startups at an early deployment or scaling stage. A startup should be able to explain how cloud infrastructure supports its product or service and business needs, show growth potential and readiness to scale, and provide a credible cloud use case and growth plan. Ignite says both startups affiliated with National Incubation Centers and independent startups may participate. It also encourages applications from women-led, underserved, and non-technical-founder startups; these characteristics do not guarantee selection.
#1 Best Overall
Selection is competitive and involves expert evaluation. Ignite’s published material does not fully enumerate the five evaluation criteria or their weights, so applicants should not assume a particular trait or score guarantees admission. Read the eligibility description on the program launch page and the current program page.
How to apply in a future open round
Ignite’s materials describe an online application process for intake rounds: submit a startup profile, explain the cloud use case, and provide a growth plan through the program portal, after which experts evaluate applications. That describes the process used for application rounds; it is not evidence that the portal is currently accepting new applicants.

- If you want to build a better future, you must believe in secrets.
- The great secret of our time is that there are still uncharted frontiers to explore and new inventions to create. In Zero to One, legendary entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel shows how we can find singular ways to create those new things.
- Confirm that a new intake has opened. Start with Ignite’s current program page and follow its official instructions. The page currently says selection is complete for Batches 1 and 2.
- Prepare the application materials. Be ready to describe the startup and its technology-based product or service, the cloud services it uses or plans to use, why those services fit its business needs, and how cloud capacity supports growth.
- Submit through the portal only when Ignite announces an open round. Follow the announced form and supporting-document requirements rather than relying on an old application link or deadline.
- Wait for expert evaluation and selection. A submission is not approval for a tier or reimbursement; the approved tier and roadmap determine the subsequent claim framework.
Are any new-applicant deadlines still open?
No deadline cited for the first two application rounds is current. The launch page listed 20 February 2026 as the initial deadline. For Batch 2, Ignite later announced 15 June and then extended the deadline to 10 July 2026. All have passed. The dates are historical: see the launch page, Ignite’s extension post, and its earlier Batch 2 post for context.
What the current Tier 2 route is for
Ignite’s current page describes 20 Tier 2 places as an advancement phase for startups already onboarded to the program that have completed Tier 1. It says applicants to that phase need the unique reference number on their Tier 1 offer letter. This is not a route for a startup that has never joined the program to enter as a new applicant. Existing participants should use Ignite’s current instructions to confirm their eligibility and next steps.

How reimbursement works: pay first, then claim
Ignite says selected startups pay their cloud service provider (CSP) invoices from their own funds first. They then submit a reimbursement request with invoices, proof of payment, and usage reports. The National Cloud Validation Panel checks claims against the startup’s approved Cloud Credit Utilization Roadmap; Ignite disburses eligible reimbursement after validation according to the approved tier. Ignite does not describe itself as paying the CSP directly.
For a participating startup, the practical implication is a working-capital requirement: budget to cover eligible cloud costs before any reimbursement arrives. Keep invoices, payment records, and usage evidence organized, and make sure the spending can be reconciled with the approved roadmap. The current program page does not state a reimbursement turnaround time.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can a startup choose any cloud provider?
Ignite’s FAQ says startups may use any global or local CSP, with the Expert Committee able to advise on provider choice. The page features Huawei Cloud, PTCL Business Solutions, Jazz Garaj Cloud, Nayatel Cloud, and Khazana Cloud, but does not describe that list as exclusive. A provider’s appearance there is not an independent performance assessment or a guarantee that every service or expense will qualify.
Compare providers against the workload and the approved roadmap rather than choosing by name alone. Useful decision points include:
- Workload and service fit: Confirm that the provider offers the compute, storage, database, networking, or other services the product actually needs.
- Projected spend: Estimate recurring monthly costs and understand which expenses can be documented for a reimbursement claim. Do not budget as if the maximum tier amount is guaranteed.
- Location and data residency: Check whether your customers, contracts, or regulatory obligations require data to stay in a particular location.
- Support and availability: Compare the support your team can access and whether required services are available where the startup operates.
- Roadmap alignment: Choose an approach you can explain in the Cloud Credit Utilization Roadmap and substantiate with usage reports.
What to verify before acting
Ignite’s current status page displays a last-updated date of 30 August 2026 in its status block, but its footer says 30 June 2026; it also displays a next update date of 30 September 2026. Because those labels conflict and program status can change, treat the page’s displayed status as Ignite’s published information rather than an independently audited count, and confirm directly with Ignite before acting. The page currently reports a target of 100 startups, with 80 inducted across Batches 1 and 2, and says selection is complete for those batches. Check the current page for a new intake announcement or current instructions.
