For a small fiberglass banca, the clearest documented examples are 2025 BFAR Region 5 procurement unit prices of PHP70,000–PHP85,000 for 22-foot boats. These are government bid or award figures—not a current nationwide retail average. The package details and tender status differ, and a separate 62-foot FRP handline vessel was valued at PHP11.5 million in 2026. Get a written local quote that spells out the hull, engine, equipment, delivery, testing and warranty.
What do the documented boat prices include?
The 22-foot figures below come from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 5 procurement notices from 2025. They are useful reference points, but they are not directly interchangeable: specifications and tender outcomes vary.

The 2025 notices also show why a headline price can be misleading. One listed a 30-foot fiberglass banca with underwater fittings and accessories, without specifying an engine, at PHP70,000; the notice was reported as a failed tender. The PHP11.5 million figure is not a price an individual buyer should expect to pay for a 62-foot boat. PNA reported that four 62-foot FRP vessels were allocated in Caraga in 2026 at a combined value of more than PHP45.7 million. They are intended for organized fishing operations; the report quoted Cagwait Fish Broker Association chairperson Armando Reyes saying the vessel would let the group venture into deep sea fishing. Why boat quotes can differ so much
Length, material and intended use
A 22-foot coastal banca, a 33-foot boat with a larger engine, and a 62-foot handline vessel serve different needs. Compare boats of similar size, construction and intended operating area; a large-vessel program value cannot tell you what a small owner-operated boat should cost.
Engine and propulsion package
“Motorized” does not define the complete specification. The cited 22-foot packages list 7.5 HP engines, while the 33-foot package lists a 16 HP diesel double engine. Confirm the engine brand, horsepower, fuel type and whether it is included in the price. Some listings may describe a hull and fittings without an engine.

Outriggers, fittings and accessories
Check exactly which outriggers, underwater fittings and accessories are included. A lower figure may cover a different setup, so ask the seller to itemize what is needed to put the boat into service.
Delivery, testing and warranty
The procurement specifications include delivery and, in some cases, testing or a sea trial and a one-year warranty. Private sellers may define these differently. Confirm the delivery destination and cost, commissioning or trial arrangements, and warranty coverage in writing.

How to compare local quotations
Ask at least two local builders or dealers to quote on the same specification. Use a written checklist so a low headline figure does not conceal missing equipment or delivery costs.
- Hull length, material and design
- Engine brand, horsepower, fuel type, and whether it is included
- Outrigger, fittings, accessories and any fishing gear included
- Delivery location, timing and cost
- Sea trial, testing or commissioning arrangements
- Warranty duration and what it covers
- Whether the figure is a current private quote, a procurement award, or an advertised bid budget
Ask the seller to separate the hull, engine and any optional equipment in the quote. That makes it easier to compare like with like and to identify expenses that may arise after purchase. The available examples do not establish a representative present-day private asking-price range, used-boat values by region, or the full lifetime cost of fuel, repairs, gear, registration and financing.

Could a BFAR program help with the cost?
There may be targeted assistance, but it is not an automatic grant for every buyer. A Philippine Information Agency report described BFAR’s “Bangka Ko, Gawa Ko” initiative in Cebu, where fisherfolk received FRP fabrication training and could build and take home a boat. In that program, the boat was provided at no cost to beneficiaries, while they supplied the outrigger and beams (katig and tarik), typically bamboo. If beneficiaries did not provide the materials, a pair of bamboo outriggers cost about PHP3,000 in that specific program.
