GameStop was reported to be holding a PS5 restock at selected U.S. stores on December 30, 2021. TechTimes described it as an in-store event, citing a PS5 restock tracker that linked to GamingIntel for the participating-location list. This is a historical report: those stores, inventory and any bundle from that date should not be treated as available now.
Was the December 30, 2021 GameStop PS5 restock in-store only?
Yes. A TechTimes article published December 29, 2021 said the next GameStop PS5 restock was scheduled for the following day and would take place in stores. It pointed readers to a GamingIntel article for a list of participating locations. That makes the date and in-store format contemporaneous secondary reporting—not a verified GameStop corporate announcement.
The report described selected locations across multiple U.S. states. It did not establish an authoritative total number of stores, the quantity of consoles at each store, or how many consoles were ultimately sold.
What was reportedly included in the bundle?
Comments in a Reddit discussion around the event described a bundle with a disc-edition PS5, three games, an additional controller, a charging station and a gift card. These are individual user reports, not confirmation of a single standard offer at every participating store.

- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
The available reporting does not verify the event’s exact price, bundle configuration, store-by-store inventory or access requirements. In particular, it does not establish whether shoppers could buy a console by itself or whether every store offered the same package. Those details should not be treated as universal terms.
What GameStop’s launch-era prices do—and do not—tell you
In a September 16, 2020 corporate release, GameStop said it was accepting preorders for the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Digital Edition and gave U.S. launch-era prices of $499.99 and $399.99, respectively. The release also referred to games and accessories. Those figures describe the 2020 launch announcement; they are not the price of the reported December 2021 restock bundle.

GameStop chief merchandising officer Chris Homeister said in that release: “These consoles are going to be in high demand, so we’re encouraging our customers to make plans now to reserve their system while supplies last.” The statement reflects the 2020 launch period, not a confirmed instruction or policy for the December 2021 store event.

No. The reported event date has passed, and the historical list is not evidence of current inventory or a current GameStop offer. Anyone looking for a PS5 today needs to check current retailer listings and store availability rather than rely on the 2021 announcement or its location list.
