What the GPSC AIMV recruitment notice covered
The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) issued the notice for 153 Class-3 Assistant Inspector of Motor Vehicle positions. The category-wise vacancy count in the advertisement was:

Eligibility reported for the 2024 notice
Scroll summarized the age range as 19 to 35 years, calculated as of 30 October 2024, with upper-age relaxation for reserved categories. It also reported that applicants needed a three-year diploma or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automobile engineering. These are summary details, not a substitute for the complete qualification, age, and other conditions in the official advertisement. The deadline and age reference date applied to this 2024 recruitment only.
How applications worked—and why the steps are now closed
Applications were submitted online through GPSC OJAS. Scroll’s account of the 2024 process described registration, uploading documents, paying the fee, submitting the form, and saving a printout for reference. It reported an application fee of ₹100. These steps and the fee relate to the closed notice; they are not instructions for applying to a current vacancy.
AIMV exam pattern and syllabus
The official syllabus for Advertisement 52/2024-25 set a three-hour examination worth 250 marks. Its three parts were:

Part A: technical subjects
The technical syllabus included engineering drawing and mechanics, machine design, thermodynamics, internal combustion engines, manufacturing, automobile engineering, and CAD/CAM. It also covered pollution and vehicle insurance, as well as vehicle diagnosis and testing.
Part B: vehicle law and road safety
This section included the Motor Vehicles Act, Central and Gujarat Motor Vehicle Rules, road-safety material, traffic signs, and cited court judgments. Candidates preparing against the notice needed to account for both legal material and the technical portion of the examination.
Part C: Gujarati
The Gujarati section covered comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and related language topics.
