The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) published that warning on May 8, 2026. The available primary sources do not establish who holds Finance St Pierre client funds, whether they are segregated, what data-security controls the platform uses, or whether an investor-protection scheme applies to its accounts. Treat those details as unverified until you can confirm them for the exact legal entity involved.
What the AMF warning does—and does not—say
The AMF warning states: “Finance St Pierre is not registered with the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) and is not authorized to solicit investors in Québec.” Read the AMF warning. This is a regulator’s statement about registration and authorization to solicit investors in Québec. It should not be broadened into a finding about every jurisdiction or a conclusion beyond the warning’s wording.
For Québec residents, the AMF directs investors to consult its registers. Registration is an important authorization check, but it does not by itself answer where a platform keeps client assets or how it secures personal information. Conversely, a website’s description of security measures would not establish regulatory authorization or prove who holds customer funds.
What is known about Finance St Pierre client funds and data
The available primary sources do not identify Finance St Pierre’s custodian or clearing firm, establish whether client assets are segregated, document specific encryption or account-access controls, or confirm an insurance policy. They also do not establish that Finance St Pierre is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). Those platform-specific details remain unverified; do not infer them from a brand name, a security badge, or a general statement about financial-industry practices.

Before sending money or identity documents, ask for the contracting legal entity’s full name, the custodian’s identity, the legal basis for holding client assets, and documentation of any claimed protection. Verify those details independently with the named firm and the relevant regulator or protection scheme. If the platform will not provide enough information to check its claims, do not treat the claims as established.
How to check the exact entity and its authorization
- Identify the legal entity. Find the full name in the account agreement, terms, or other contract—not just the Finance St Pierre brand—and note any named individuals who solicit or manage investments.
- Check the relevant regulator’s register. For Québec, consult the AMF registers as directed in its warning. Search the exact entity and individuals, and confirm that any registration covers the activity being offered.
- Use jurisdiction-appropriate tools. In the United States, FINRA BrokerCheck is a free resource for researching brokers and firms and checking registration. Use FINRA BrokerCheck. It is a U.S. resource, not a substitute for checking the register that applies where you live or invest.
- Verify custody separately. If a platform names a custodian or clearing firm, contact that firm using independently verified contact details and ask whether it has the stated relationship with the exact legal entity. A familiar affiliate’s registration does not prove that the platform itself is authorized or that your account is held by that affiliate.
What SIPC protection covers—and why membership must be verified
SIPC says eligible customers of a financially troubled member may receive protection of up to $500,000, including a $250,000 limit for cash. These are maximums subject to eligibility and statutory conditions, not a guarantee for every account. SIPC protection addresses customer property missing because of a member broker-dealer’s failure; it does not reimburse investment losses caused by falling market prices. See SIPC’s explanation of protection.

Do not assume an account is protected because a platform or a similarly named company claims an association with a SIPC member. The SEC and SIPC explain that an affiliate is a separate legal entity unless independently registered, and that assets held outside a SIPC-member brokerage firm are not covered. Read the SEC/SIPC bulletin on brokerage affiliations. Check current SIPC membership and the relevant regulator’s records for the precise entity, then confirm where the account and assets are actually held. The available sources do not establish that Finance St Pierre is a SIPC member or that its customers’ assets are held at a member firm.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Questions to resolve before opening or funding an account
- What exact legal entity will contract with me, and is it authorized for this activity where I live?
- Which firm holds or clears my assets, and can that firm independently confirm the relationship?
- Are client assets segregated? If so, under which legal framework, and what document explains the arrangement?
- Which investor-protection scheme, if any, applies to this exact account and asset type? What are its eligibility rules and limits?
- What specific account-access and privacy controls are in place, and where are they documented?
Until those answers are independently verifiable, treat claims about Finance St Pierre’s custody, segregation, insurance, SIPC coverage, and technical security as unconfirmed. The AMF warning is the established regulatory fact for Québec; it does not fill in those separate account-level details.
