FedEx has the largest reported aircraft fleet: 700 planes as of May 31, 2026. UPS reports the largest clearly stated ground fleet, at about 125,000 vehicles as of Dec. 31, 2025. Amazon’s latest cited figure—more than 52,700 electric delivery vans in 2025—is a subset, not a count of its entire delivery network. There is no apples-to-apples overall winner because the companies report different vehicle types, ownership arrangements, and dates.
Which carrier has the largest fleet?
The answer depends on what “fleet” means. FedEx leads on the latest cited aircraft count. UPS has the highest single reported ground-vehicle total. FedEx also reports a separate group of vehicles owned or leased by independent service providers, while Amazon’s recent figure covers electric vans rather than every vehicle in its delivery operation.
The figures are snapshots, not counts taken on the same date: FedEx’s are as of May 31, 2026; UPS’s are as of Dec. 31, 2025; and Amazon’s electric-van figure is reported for 2025.

What the aircraft counts include
FedEx reported 700 aircraft in its fleet as of May 31, 2026. UPS reported 295 aircraft that it owned and/or operated as of Dec. 31, 2025, and separately listed 221 aircraft operated by others under charters and leases. The UPS figures should not be treated as identical to a count limited to aircraft it owns or directly operates: the additional 221 are explicitly operated by others.

On the reported counts, FedEx has more aircraft than UPS. The reporting dates differ, and Amazon’s cited sources do not establish a comparable current aircraft total.
Why ground-fleet totals are harder to compare
UPS reports one approximate global ground-fleet total
UPS says its global ground fleet includes about 125,000 package cars, vans, tractors, and motorcycles as of Dec. 31, 2025. That is the broadest single ground-vehicle total among the figures cited here.

FedEx separates its operated vehicles from provider vehicles
FedEx reported about 82,000 motorized vehicles operated in its global network as of May 31, 2026. It also said certain linehaul and pickup-and-delivery operations are conducted primarily with about 100,000 vehicles owned or leased by independent service providers. These are different ownership and operating categories; adding them to the 82,000 would produce a broader network-related count, not a like-for-like company-operated fleet comparison.
Amazon’s electric-van figure is only one category
Amazon reported more than 52,700 electric delivery vans globally in 2025 and said this put it more than halfway toward its goal of 100,000 electric delivery vehicles globally by 2030. The 52,700-plus figure does not count every van, truck, or delivery-partner vehicle in Amazon’s network, so it cannot establish Amazon’s total ground fleet against UPS or FedEx.

What can and cannot be concluded
- Largest reported aircraft fleet: FedEx, with 700 aircraft as of May 31, 2026, compared with UPS’s reported aircraft categories as of Dec. 31, 2025.
- Largest clearly stated ground fleet total: UPS, with about 125,000 vehicles as of Dec. 31, 2025. FedEx’s roughly 82,000 operated vehicles are reported separately from about 100,000 provider-owned or leased vehicles used primarily for certain operations.
- Amazon’s position: its more than 52,700 electric vans in 2025 are a useful measure of one vehicle category, not a total that can rank its entire delivery fleet.
Accordingly, a single overall fleet winner cannot be established from these disclosures. A fair comparison needs the same vehicle categories, the same treatment of contractors and chartered assets, and reporting dates close enough to compare.
