How many EA and Respawn jobs were affected?
Bloomberg reported on April 30, 2025, that EA cut between 300 and 400 positions across the company, including around 100 at Respawn. Bloomberg attributed both figures to a person familiar with the cuts; they are reported estimates, not an exact tally confirmed by EA. Reuters reported the same estimates on April 29. Bloomberg’s report and Reuters’ report republished by Investing.com are the sources for those counts.
The figures describe positions eliminated, not necessarily the number of people who ultimately left EA: the available reporting does not establish individual outcomes. It also does not specify the total count by team beyond Respawn, the locations affected, or the exact final number.
What did EA say about the cuts?
EA spokesperson Justin Higgs said the company made “select changes” to align teams and allocate resources in service of future growth. The statement described the purpose in terms of the company’s long-term strategic priorities; it did not identify a specific game’s performance as the reason for the layoffs.

The Los Angeles Times reported that EA was helping affected employees explore internal roles and providing transition support, based on Higgs’s account. The Los Angeles Times report also covered the Respawn changes.
What Respawn confirmed about projects and teams
Respawn said it was stepping away from two early-stage incubation projects and making targeted adjustments across Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi. It also said work would continue on the upcoming season of Apex Legends and the next chapter in the Star Wars Jedi series. The studio’s statement acknowledged the impact on colleagues, calling the decisions difficult and expressing gratitude to affected teammates.

Was one of the canceled projects a Titanfall game?
Reporting identified one of the two early-stage projects as being set in the Titanfall universe and said it was not close to release. Respawn’s statement did not name Titanfall, and the available reporting does not establish the identity of the second project. The canceled project was therefore an unreleased early-stage effort—not a released game such as Titanfall 2, and not a product that had been announced as nearing launch.

Bloomberg reported that EA had about 13,700 employees at the end of March 2024. Reuters reported that 66% of employees were located internationally as of March 31, 2024. Those are historical, company-wide figures predating the April 2025 cuts; they do not establish EA’s headcount at the time of the layoffs or where the affected roles were based.
