Did EA go private?
Yes. EA announced completion of the acquisition on August 4, 2026. Its closing notice said EA common stock had ceased trading and would be delisted from NASDAQ. The transaction is complete, rather than an agreement still awaiting a shareholder vote or closing. EA stockholders had approved it at a special meeting on December 22, 2025. Who acquired Electronic Arts?
The acquiring consortium comprises the Public Investment Fund (PIF), private investment funds affiliated with Silver Lake, and private investment funds affiliated with Affinity Partners. The legal structure in the merger agreement used Oak-Eagle AcquireCo, Inc. as Parent and Oak-Eagle MergerCo, Inc. as Merger Sub. Merger Sub merged into EA, with EA surviving as a wholly owned subsidiary of Parent. The transaction’s legal structure and terms are set out in the SEC-filed merger materials.
How much did EA shareholders receive?
Under the terms announced in 2025 and confirmed in the closing notice, eligible EA shareholders were to receive $210 in cash per share. EA described the transaction’s announced value as approximately $55 billion in enterprise value. That figure is not the same thing as $210 per share: enterprise value describes the transaction at the company level, while the per-share amount is the stated cash consideration for eligible shareholders. EA called it the largest all-cash sponsor take-private investment in history when it announced the agreement in 2025; that is EA’s announcement-time characterization, not an independently updated ranking.
What did the $20 billion debt commitment mean?
The SEC-filed agreement identifies a $20 billion debt financing commitment. That amount is one financing component, not the total transaction value or a statement of all the funding used for the acquisition. Separately, PIF agreed to roll over its existing 9.9% stake in EA as part of the announced agreement.

Is Andrew Wilson still CEO?
EA identified Andrew Wilson as Chairman & CEO in its August 4, 2026 closing announcement, establishing his role at closing. The reviewed deal announcements do not specify a guaranteed length for his future tenure. Wilson said at closing, “We’re entering this next chapter from a position of strength with partners who share our vision and ambition.”

Silver Lake CEO and Managing Partner Egon Durban said at closing that the consortium was “excited to partner with Andrew and the EA team” and cited investment in EA’s growth, including possible uses of AI in game development and player experience. These are the buyers’ stated intentions; the announcement does not establish particular investment levels, results or AI outcomes.
