Although high fuel costs were reported as industry context, the available reports do not establish that Delta cited fuel costs as the reason for this specific route change.
What changed to Delta’s Los Angeles–Anchorage flights?
Delta had planned to offer seasonal LAX–ANC service beginning May 22, 2026, then removed the route from its schedule, according to AeroRoutes’ November 11, 2025 schedule report and its April 9, 2026 update. These reports describe schedule plans and changes; they do not show that the planned flights operated.
The advance schedule called for weekend flights at first and daily service from June 7. The April 9 report listed two weekly flights initially, daily service from June 7, and a planned service window of May 22–September 9. An April 27 AeroRoutes route summary also marked LAX–ANC cancelled, but gave the planned end date as September 8. The reports differ by one day, so neither date should be treated as a confirmed final operating date.
Did high fuel costs cause Delta to cancel the route?
That route-specific explanation is not confirmed in the sources available. Delta’s April 8, 2026 financial release discussed significantly increased fuel costs in the company’s overall results, but did not connect them to the LAX–ANC schedule change. The route reports establish that the planned service was removed, not why Delta made the decision.

Delta’s September 18, 2026 announcement about its expanded LAX schedule described other route additions but did not explain the Anchorage removal. It would therefore be inaccurate to present fuel costs as Delta’s stated reason for this route decision.
What can travelers use instead?
A third-party schedule page updated October 5, 2026 listed Alaska Airlines as offering nonstop LAX–ANC flights in October 2026 through March 2027. That listing can change; check Alaska Airlines’ own booking schedule for your dates before making plans.
