Microsoft did promote a fall gift-card savings event in 2025. In September, Microsoft reportedly teased a sale scheduled to begin in October, featuring brands such as Amazon, Xbox, Starbucks and Roblox. Later coverage described discounts of up to 10% on selected gift-card redemptions.

That promotion reportedly ended on October 14, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, or earlier if supplies ran out. It was not a permanent change to Rewards pricing, and “up to 10%” did not mean that every card received the same discount. Availability and savings varied by card and region.
A 2025 promotion is useful context, but it does not prove that Microsoft will repeat the event in 2026 or use the same dates, brands, discount or terms.
How to check for a real Microsoft Rewards sale
- Sign in to your Microsoft Rewards account.
- Open Redeem from the Rewards navigation. The main sections include Dashboard, Earn, Redeem, About, Refer and Earn, and Order history.
- Open the individual gift-card listing rather than relying on a social-media post or old screenshot.
- Check the displayed points cost, discount, expiration date, country restrictions and any “while supplies last” wording.
- Review the final redemption screen before confirming. The terms shown for your account and region are more reliable than a price quoted in an article.
Microsoft’s own support guidance directs users to the Redeem page for current availability. It also warns that Rewards offers vary by country. A gift card shown in a U.S. promotion may not be offered to users in the U.K., Canada or another market.

Microsoft gift-card credit may work differently from a code
The current Rewards Microsoft Gift Card listing says the reward is added by direct deposit to the Microsoft account. In other words, Microsoft may apply the value directly instead of sending a code that must be entered manually. Microsoft says it sends an email confirmation when the value is ready to spend.
That is different from the assumption that every Rewards redemption arrives as an emailed gift-card code. Check the specific reward page and confirmation email to see how the redemption was delivered.

The current Rewards Microsoft Gift Card page says the promotional card must be spent within 90 days of deposit. That rule should not be confused with the treatment of ordinary Microsoft account credit.

Problems that can prevent redemption
The gift card is unavailable
Gift cards may go out of stock or disappear from the catalog. Microsoft advises users to check back, and its support agents do not provide restock or removal schedules. A card pictured in a promotional graphic is not proof that it will be available when you log in.
Your country or region does not match
Microsoft says Rewards users should redeem in the same region where they signed up. Do not use a VPN to try to access another country’s offer. Gift-card denominations are tied to the relevant jurisdiction, and account balances generally cannot be converted into another currency or transferred to another Microsoft account.

You are traveling
Microsoft says a redemption can fail with a message indicating that the user is currently traveling. Wait until you return to the home region associated with the account rather than repeatedly attempting the transaction from a different location.

Common verification issues include an incorrect code, too many failed attempts, a phone number linked to too many Rewards accounts, or use of a VoIP number. Microsoft says:
- After too many unsuccessful attempts, you may need to wait 48 hours before trying again.
- One phone number can be associated with a maximum of six Rewards accounts per household, according to Microsoft’s support information.
- Microsoft requires a mobile or landline number rather than a VoIP number for this verification.
Claims to treat cautiously
Several details circulating about the supposed 2026 sale should not be presented as established facts:
- No specific 2026 start date has been confirmed by Microsoft.
- A claim that the promotion will last 24 to 72 hours is not supported by an official Microsoft promotion document.
