If Microsoft Edge remembers a credit card you no longer use, remove it from Edge’s saved payment information rather than deleting browser history. The current path works in Edge on both Windows 10 and Windows 11:

Edge menu (…) > Settings > Passwords and autofill > Payment info

You can also open the payment settings directly with edge://settings/payments.

Delete one saved credit card in Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Select the Settings and more button—the three dots (…) in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Open Passwords and autofill. In some Edge versions, this area appears under Profiles.
  5. Select Payment info.
  6. Find the card under Cards you’ve saved.
  7. Open the card’s menu or details, select Remove or Delete, and confirm.

For a faster route, click Edge’s address bar, enter the following command, and press Enter:

Stop Edge from saving new credit cards

Deleting a card removes the existing entry, but it does not necessarily stop Edge from offering to save the next card you use. To disable payment autofill:

  1. Open edge://settings/payments.
  2. Turn off Save and fill payment info.
  3. If your version shows a separate option called Automatically save payment info, turn that off too.

This prevents Edge from saving new payment information and filling saved payment details on websites. It does not delete cards that are already listed, so remove those separately.

Delete every saved card and autofill entry

If Edge does not let you remove one card individually—or you want to wipe all saved form information—you can clear autofill data. This is broader than deleting a single card: it can also remove saved addresses and other form entries.

What to do if the card comes back

Check Edge sync

A card associated with a Microsoft account may be synchronized with other Edge profiles using that account. A second computer or device can make it appear as though the card was restored.

  1. Open … > Settings.
  2. Select Profiles.
  3. Select Sync.
  4. Review the payment-information or payment-related sync setting.
  5. Temporarily turn payment syncing off if you need to prevent another synced device from supplying a copy.

After checking sync, return to edge://settings/payments and remove the card again if it is still listed.

Remove the card from your Microsoft account

Some payment methods are held by your Microsoft account rather than only as local Edge autofill data. This can apply to cards used for Microsoft Store purchases, Xbox, Microsoft 365, or other Microsoft subscriptions.

Important details about saved cards in Edge

Action What it does What it does not do
Delete a card under Payment info Removes the selected saved card from Edge’s payment information. Does not necessarily remove a separate Microsoft-account payment method.
Turn off Save and fill payment info Stops future payment autofill and new card-saving prompts. Does not erase cards already saved.
Clear Autofill form data Removes saved cards and other autofill entries for the selected time range. Does not target only one card; addresses and other form data may also be deleted.
Clear browsing history Removes visited-page history when selected. Does not by itself remove saved card details.

Edge does not store a card’s CVV as a saved card field. A CVV may be requested to authorize or verify a payment, but Microsoft says it is not stored.

Why Payment info may be missing

The Payments feature may not be available when Edge is signed in with a work or school account. It is also unavailable for child Microsoft accounts. In those cases, an administrator or account restriction may control the available settings.

Also, do not look for the old Microsoft Wallet section. Microsoft retired Wallet in Edge; current desktop versions manage saved payment details through Payment info under Passwords and autofill or Profiles.

  • Check your Microsoft account’s Payment options page if the card was used for Microsoft services.
  • Review recent card transactions through your bank or card issuer if you removed the card because of suspected unauthorized access.
  • If the card itself may be compromised, contact the card issuer. Removing an autofill entry does not cancel the physical card or change its account number.
