Zoho Analytics 6.0, announced on September 12, 2024, expanded the product beyond dashboards with conversational AI, predictive analytics, no-code machine learning, and Python development tools. It is not just a chatbot update: the release connects natural-language analysis to forecasting, anomaly detection, model building, and data-management improvements. The important qualification is that features are split across plans, and the most advanced modeling tools are not included in every tier.

What Zoho Analytics 6.0 added

Zoho described 6.0 as a broad platform release spanning connectors, data management, analytics, collaboration, visualization, and extensibility. Its AI and ML additions fit into four distinct categories: generative and conversational assistance, predictive analysis, custom model development, and automation that helps users prepare or explore reports. Zoho announced the release on September 12, 2024; its release history labels it Release 2024.

Capability What it does Typical use
Ask Zia and visual insights Turns natural-language questions into analytics and explanatory output Business-user exploration and reporting
Anomaly detection Flags unusual values or metric behavior Monitoring and investigation
Forecasting Uses historical data and influencing factors to predict outcomes Planning when relevant predictors are available
Cluster Analysis Groups records using clustering methods Customer, product, or behavior segmentation
AutoML Builds and compares regression, classification, and clustering models Predictive modeling without writing model code
Python Code Studio Supports custom models and data transformations in Python Technical users needing more control
Dataiku integration Lets users analyze and visualize Dataiku ML model data in Zoho Analytics BI distribution for teams already using Dataiku

What Ask Zia and generative AI can do

Ask questions, investigate drivers, and see visual narratives

Ask Zia provides natural-language access to analytics. In 6.0, Zoho added Diagnostic Insights to help investigate why a result changed by identifying influential drivers and adding context. That is different from anomaly detection: an anomaly is an unusual observation, while a diagnostic explanation attempts to surface factors associated with a result. Neither makes a causal conclusion automatic.

Zia Insights can also produce visual narratives, with output designed to show comparisons, contributions, distributions, trends, and proportions. Users can choose which columns Ask Zia should consider for insights, a useful control when a dataset contains many irrelevant dimensions. Conversation mode was also extended to handle more complex mathematical questions, including correlation and trend-strength queries. Treat the output as a starting point: validate its filters, date range, aggregation, and metric definitions against a known report.

Optional OpenAI integration

Zoho announced an OpenAI integration within Ask Zia. The described uses include providing workspace metadata in a retrieval-augmented-generation setup to improve relevance, and assisting with formula generation and data preparation from natural-language instructions. Workspace administrators can use the integration. This is an optional integration, not evidence that all Zoho Analytics processing relies on OpenAI. Before enabling it, organizations should establish what metadata and prompts are shared, which model and region process them, applicable retention and logging terms, and whether administrators can centrally restrict use. Zoho’s announcement confirms the integration but does not answer every enterprise privacy or residency question.

Microsoft Teams access

An Ask Zia bot for Microsoft Teams lets users query data, retrieve insights, predict trends, and create reports from that collaboration environment. It is a workflow convenience rather than a separate analytics engine; the relevant Zoho and Microsoft configuration is still required.

Predictive analytics: anomalies, clusters, and forecasts

Anomaly detection

Zoho says Analytics can use machine-learning algorithms and statistical models to identify outliers in data or metrics. Users can create visualizations that highlight anomalies and configure alerts. An alert tells a team that something warrants investigation; it does not establish whether the cause is a real business event or a problem such as delayed synchronization, duplicate imports, a schema change, or missing values represented as zero. Check synchronization and audit information before acting on a surprising signal.

Cluster Analysis

Zoho lists k-means, k-modes, and k-prototypes for grouping records. These methods can support customer segmentation, product grouping, behavioral analysis, and affinity discovery. A mathematical cluster is not automatically a useful business segment: results depend on feature selection, scaling, missing-data treatment, sample size, and stability. Review whether the groups differ in ways that support distinct decisions. Zoho’s release announcement identifies Cluster Analysis as a Premium Plan feature.

Multivariate forecasting

The upgraded forecasting engine can consider influencing factors alongside the series being forecast. For example, a sales forecast can use marketing spend or sign-ups as predictors instead of relying only on historical sales. A univariate forecast is simpler to maintain; a multivariate one can use additional signals, but only if those inputs are reliable and available for the forecast period. If future marketing spend is unknown, a forecast dependent on that value may not be operationally usable. Validate either approach on a relevant historical holdout or backtest rather than assuming that more inputs guarantee better accuracy. Zoho describes the capability in its release notes.

Custom machine learning: AutoML, Python, and Dataiku

AutoML for no-code model building

AutoML is distinct from Ask Zia. Ask Zia helps users ask questions and generate analysis; AutoML builds a model around a defined target and task. Zoho describes a workflow for training, testing and comparing, deploying, and managing models, with feature engineering, parameter tuning, and performance analysis. The current plan comparison lists regression, classification, and clustering. Zoho announced AutoML as an Enterprise Plan feature.

No-code tooling reduces the coding burden, not the need for sound modeling practice. Teams still need a meaningful target, representative training data, suitable features, a valid holdout, and criteria for evaluation. Check for target leakage, class imbalance, sampling bias, overfitting, poor calibration, drift, and fairness or compliance concerns; then plan how a deployed model will be monitored and refreshed.

Python Code Studio

Code Studio offers a Python environment for custom models and transformations, with a Zia code suggester intended to speed development. It is for users who need more control than a no-code workflow provides, but it should not be presumed equivalent to a dedicated data-science or MLOps platform. Confirm the available libraries, package management, execution and security limits, and model lifecycle and deployment controls for the organization’s workload. The current plan comparison places Python Code Studio in Enterprise.

Dataiku interoperability

The Dataiku plugin lets teams analyze and visualize data from Dataiku ML models in Zoho Analytics. This is an integration between a BI environment and an existing data-science workflow, not a claim that Zoho replaces Dataiku or that the plugin creates Dataiku models inside Zoho.

Automation and data changes behind the AI features

Report creation and exploration

  • Auto Analyze 2.0: Users can choose from automatically generated reports and dashboards before adding them, and select which columns are analyzed.
  • Zia Suggestions: Recommends charts during report creation and allows users to preview and apply them. Users still need to check measures, dimensions, aggregation, and chart suitability.
  • Automated insights: This appears in Zoho’s current feature comparison, but availability depends on the plan shown there.

Connectors, synchronization, and metrics

Zoho says 6.0 added more than 25 connectors to a portfolio of more than 500, including ClickHouse, Dremio, Databricks, NetSuite, Monday.com, Airtable, Qualtrics, and ClickUp. Availability can vary by connector and edition. Other announced data features include Sync History for synchronization status and failures, Audit History, Undo Import, and different sync intervals for individual tables within a connection.

The release also added Stream Analytics for live-stream data through API and Google Pub/Sub Push Subscription, Unified Metrics for standardizing aggregate metrics across tables and sources, dynamic image or URL associations, and improved Live Connect behavior that permits Live Connect sources to coexist with other data sources in a workspace. Zoho CRM Enterprise users were offered real-time CRM synchronization; DataPrep-based ETL workflows require a Zoho DataPrep license. These are not blanket guarantees of real-time updates for every source.

Plans and feature availability

Do not read “Analytics 6.0” as meaning every listed capability is included in every subscription. The current feature comparison places features in different tiers, and Zoho’s release announcement specifically identifies Cluster Analysis as Premium and AutoML as Enterprise. Code Studio is also listed in Enterprise. Conversational analytics, automated insights, and agentic Ask Zia functionality likewise have plan distinctions; verify the current matrix for the exact feature and region before purchasing.

How to evaluate whether it fits

Zoho Analytics is most compelling when a team wants self-service BI alongside accessible predictive tools, especially if it already uses Zoho CRM, Books, Campaigns, Creator, or other Zoho services. Zoho advertises both cloud and on-premises deployment; confirm the deployment model and controls against the organization’s needs on the product page.

It may be a weaker fit if the organization is standardized on Microsoft 365, Azure, Fabric, Excel, and Teams; needs specialized visual authoring; depends on a mature governed semantic layer; or requires experiment tracking, feature stores, distributed training, extensive package control, or production MLOps beyond an embedded BI environment. A policy that prohibits sending metadata or prompts to an external model is also relevant to the optional OpenAI integration.

Use this evaluation checklist

  1. Confirm ingestion: Test every required source and determine whether a native connector, API, DataPrep, or custom integration is needed.
  2. Measure freshness: Establish whether scheduled refreshes suffice or whether a specific connector’s streaming or real-time sync behavior is required.
  3. Test Ask Zia: Compare generated answers and formulas with known reports, including metric definitions, filters, date ranges, and permissions.
  4. Review governance: Check access controls, sharing, auditability, prompt handling, and external-model administration with the security team.
  5. Validate models: Backtest forecasts and anomaly rules; inspect cluster stability and model performance on data not used for training.
  6. Price the needed tier: Match required users, rows, connectors, API units, and AI/ML features to one plan and identify any additional licenses.
  7. Check workflow and deployment: Decide whether users work mainly in Zoho, Teams, embedded applications, or a data-science platform, and confirm cloud or on-premises requirements.
  8. Plan the model lifecycle: Ask how models are refreshed, monitored, versioned, retrained, and retired, and how results can be exported or integrated elsewhere.

How it compares with major alternatives

Product Where it tends to fit Published pricing signal in cited materials
Zoho Analytics Self-service analytics, Zoho ecosystem integration, connectors, and AI/ML features within one platform Tiered plans; verify current entitlements and price at Zoho pricing.
Microsoft Power BI Microsoft 365, Azure, Excel, Teams, and Fabric-oriented organizations Microsoft lists Pro at $14 per user/month and Premium Per User at $24 per user/month, billed yearly; see Microsoft’s pricing page.
Tableau Advanced visual analytics and dashboard authoring, including Salesforce-oriented environments Tableau Cloud Standard starts at $15 per user/month and Enterprise at $35 per user/month, billed annually; Tableau+ is contact-sales. See Tableau pricing.
Looker Governed semantic modeling and reusable metrics, particularly with Google Cloud or BigQuery Public list pricing is not as straightforward; see Looker.
Qlik Associative exploration and discovery across varied data No verified current first-party price is stated here; see Qlik.

The listed Power BI and Tableau figures are vendor pricing signals, not a like-for-like total-cost comparison with Zoho: users, capacity, features, support, and billing terms differ. Power BI is the natural first comparison for Microsoft-centered organizations; Tableau is a strong candidate when visual authoring is the priority; Looker suits teams emphasizing governed metrics; and Qlik is worth considering where associative exploration is central.
