That is automated, AI-assisted security—not a fully independent replacement for guards or human judgment. The company announced a $10.5 million Series A in March 2025; it later announced a $12 million growth round in July 2026 and now reports $32 million in total funding.
What Hakimo does
Hakimo is a Menlo Park physical-security company, not a consumer home-camera service or a cybersecurity vendor. Its platform adds monitoring and response software to commercial camera, video-management and access-control systems. The product line now includes AI Operator, Forensic Search, Facial Recognition, an Insights Dashboard, a mobile app, mobile surveillance units, remote guarding, access-control monitoring, weapon detection and security operations center services, according to Hakimo.
The central proposition is to use installed cameras and related systems to detect and respond to activity, rather than merely record it for later review. Hakimo says its platform works with ONVIF-compliant cameras and NVR systems and offers integrations with video-management, access-control and speaker manufacturers. That does not guarantee plug-and-play compatibility: a buyer should confirm support for its specific cameras, recorder, software versions and network configuration. Hakimo’s access-control alarm-monitoring integration for LenelS2 OnGuard is also listed by LenelS2/Honeywell.
How AI Operator and human monitoring fit together
Hakimo describes its approach as “AI speed, human judgment.” A typical incident workflow can look like this:

- Ingest: Cameras, NVRs or integrated access-control systems provide video and event data.
- Analyze: AI monitors feeds or associated alarms for specified threats, anomalies or operational issues.
- Respond first: Depending on the setup and established procedures, the system can issue an audible warning or initiate a predefined response.
- Escalate: Trained operators review or manage events that need context, judgment or further action.
- Notify: The customer and, where appropriate, emergency services or law enforcement can be contacted under the site’s escalation rules.
Hakimo says its AI Operator can recognize threats described in natural language. Its listed use cases include intrusion, trespassing, unauthorized access, tailgating, suspicious or perimeter activity, potential weapons, a person collapsing, access-control anomalies and camera or door-hardware faults. These are company-described capabilities, not evidence of a universal detector that performs equally well in every setting.
“Autonomous” is therefore best understood as automated monitoring, triage and first-line response within a broader service. People remain important for ambiguous or high-consequence events, emergency escalation, customer-specific choices and exceptions. A software warning can deter an opportunistic trespasser; it cannot physically intervene or guarantee that a determined person will leave.
Why commercial properties are the target
The model is aimed at places that already have cameras but cannot justify a guard at every location or at every hour. Multifamily housing, automotive dealerships, construction and manufacturing sites, airports, self-storage facilities, offices and other enterprises appear among Hakimo’s reported customer categories. Its customer-story library includes examples involving Skanska construction, dealerships, multifamily properties, self-storage and an airport.
For owners of dispersed sites, remote monitoring may help cover overnight windows, identify events sooner and use existing infrastructure. Those market pressures explain the appeal, but do not establish that the platform will prevent losses at a particular property. The results depend on the threat, camera views, connectivity, escalation process and whether an audible or remote response is useful for that incident.

What the $10.5 million round funded—and the later financing
Hakimo announced its $10.5 million Series A on March 27, 2025. Vertex Ventures and Zigg Capital led; RXR Arden Digital Ventures, Defy.vc and Gokul Rajaram participated. Hakimo said the round brought its cumulative funding at that point to $20.5 million. The announcement framed the money as support for the platform and the launch of AI Operator, but did not publish a detailed allocation of proceeds. Claims about specific hiring, research or expansion budgets would go beyond what the company disclosed.
The 2025 round is no longer the latest financing milestone. On July 8, 2026, Hakimo announced a $12 million growth round led by existing investor Zigg Capital, with Neotribe Ventures, Vertex Ventures, Defy.vc and Rocketship.vc participating. The company now reports $32 million in total funding and says its product line has expanded to include capabilities such as AI-powered forensic search. The financing signals continued investor backing; it is not, by itself, proof of profitability, audited customer retention or product-market fit.

How to assess the savings claim
Hakimo’s current website advertises $125,000 in annual savings relative to a guard and a six-second median operator response time. Those are company-reported figures, not independently audited benchmarks. The six-second figure is an operator-response metric; it should not be read as AI inference time, arrival of police or resolution of an incident. Forbes reported on March 27, 2025, that a typical customer paid “a few thousand dollars a month” and that pricing was linked to camera count. Hakimo does not publish a universal price list, so buyers need a site-specific quote.

The useful comparison is not simply a software subscription against the wage of one guard. A buyer should build a total-cost estimate that accounts for:
- Number of sites and cameras, and the hours each must be monitored.
- Camera condition, network reliability, installation and integration work.
- Speaker requirements and the cost of replacing or adding hardware.
- Human-operator escalation, emergency procedures and any dispatch fees.
- Guard coverage that would actually be removed, reduced or redeployed.
- False-alarm costs, missed-incident exposure, insurance effects and customer staffing.
- Video storage, retention, contract minimums and termination terms.
A system may lower the cost of watching many remote sites, but it does not provide physical presence. The value proposition is strongest when the alternative is costly coverage during predictable high-risk windows and a remote warning or escalation can plausibly change the outcome.

What customer evidence does—and does not—show
Hakimo reports more than 6 million hours monitored across all sites and deployments ranging from smaller businesses to Fortune 500 companies. Its website also gives the six-second median operator-response metric. These are company-reported figures, not independently audited measures of accuracy or prevention.

The company’s customer stories cite a 60% reduction in security incidents at 1919 Market Street, a 66% cost reduction and 90% crime reduction at a student-housing property, nine months with zero incidents at one automotive customer, and a construction deployment protecting a 4.5-mile I-405 project. Another customer story describes a 450% scaling increase for a self-storage operator. These figures are case-study claims, not guarantees that another site will see the same results. Public summaries do not provide enough consistent detail to determine whether incident definitions, baseline periods, camera coverage and external conditions were comparable.
Hakimo and media coverage have also described an incident in which the system detected a person collapsing and operators contacted emergency services. That is a company-reported example of a potential safety use, not an independently verified measure of medical-event detection performance.

Where Hakimo fits among security options
Hakimo competes with categories of services and systems rather than a single interchangeable product. The right comparison depends on whether the site needs physical intervention, video context, remote monitoring or internal control over analytics.

Risks buyers should test before deployment
Detection quality and alert burden
False positives can create alert fatigue, unnecessary talk-downs, complaints or avoidable dispatches. False negatives can arise from occlusion, darkness, weather, poor placement, compression, camera outages or activity outside the field of view. Hakimo’s public materials do not establish comprehensive precision, recall, false-positive or false-negative rates across different conditions. Ask for alert-volume and incident-review data from a representative pilot.

Infrastructure limits and response gaps
Using existing cameras may reduce the need for a hardware overhaul, but it cannot make a poor camera view useful. Check lighting, field of view, image quality, network uptime, audio coverage and access-control integration. A talk-down is not a substitute for physical intervention, medical response or fire response, and police action depends on local dispatch rules and verification requirements.
People, privacy and security governance
Continuous video, employee and tenant monitoring, facial recognition and biometric data can raise legal and civil-liberties concerns. Before enabling features, establish who can view footage, what is retained and for how long, whether data is used to train models, how access is logged, and how customers can export footage and incident records. Review applicable workplace, housing and biometric-privacy rules with qualified counsel.
Connecting cameras, access control and speakers to a cloud platform also creates another system to secure. Ask about authentication, permissions, encryption, audit logs, vendor access and incident response. Contractually clarify data ownership, export at termination and the process for changing site-specific procedures.
A practical buyer evaluation
Before buying, ask Hakimo and any competing provider to walk through a real site design and a written response plan. A focused evaluation should cover:

- Coverage: Which cameras and hours are included, and what happens during a camera or network outage?
- Escalation: What is the human escalation service-level agreement, who contacts police or emergency services, and what counts as a verified alarm?
- Performance: How are false alarms, missed events and response times measured during a pilot?
- Economics: What is charged per camera, site, monitoring window and operator escalation? What installation, dispatch or contract costs are additional?
- Governance: What data is retained, who can access it, how facial recognition is controlled, and can the customer export logs and video?
- Exit: What happens to footage, incident history, integrations and operating procedures when the contract ends?
For organizations already using LenelS2 OnGuard, the listed Hakimo Alarm Monitoring integration is a concrete path to evaluate for video-assisted alarm triage. Other deployments still need a technical compatibility review and a site-specific commercial proposal.
