Good Housekeeping published its review on August 19, 2026. Isabella Cavallo says she tried five pairs over the prior year, alongside feedback from footwear experts and editors who tried several styles. The practical case for the price is strongest if you value a washable knit shoe and the style works for your foot. The review describes breathable materials, comfortable wear and supportive soles in some styles, but also uneven fit and rubbing. Its conclusion is conditional: finding the right style and size may make the purchase worthwhile, while returns or exchanges may be part of the process.
Do Rothy’s shoes run true to size?
There is no single sizing answer across styles and wearers. Rothy’s official FAQ generally recommends going up half a size for pointed-toe flats and loafers because the knit does not stretch significantly over time. Good Housekeeping reviewers reported different experiences: some found shoes true to size, others found a style small or wide, and at least one editor sized down. The review also notes that Rothy’s did not offer separate narrow and wide widths in the context of the author’s fit experience. For examples, Cavallo found the Cruiser Mary Jane suited her narrow feet better than some other pairs. The Daily Flat fit her foot length but felt too wide. Are Rothy’s comfortable for walking all day?
Some Good Housekeeping reviewers reported comfortable extended wear, but the accounts do not establish how the shoes will feel for every wearer or walking route. Cavallo said she wore the Cruiser Mary Jane at work for more than 10,000 steps without cuts or blisters. A separate account reported heel irritation in the Max Buckle Mary Jane after more than 5,000 steps. Those step counts describe individual experiences, not a controlled comparison.
Support also varies by shoe. The review describes supportive soles in some flats, while noting that ballet flats generally offer less cushioning and support than sneakers. If you need substantial cushioning for long walks or hours on your feet, do not assume a knit flat will substitute for a supportive sneaker.

Can you wash Rothy’s shoes?
Washability is one of the clearest practical advantages, but follow the instructions for your exact style. Rothy’s product page for The Max Square Mary Jane says to remove the insoles, wash the shoes and insoles in cold water, and air dry without heat. See the official product and care instructions.
Good Housekeeping similarly recommends cold water, mild detergent, a delicate cycle and air drying. The brand’s instructions for your purchased style should take precedence if they differ. Do not use heat to dry the shoes.

Are Rothy’s durable?
The available wear reports are mixed and too limited to predict a typical lifespan. Good Housekeeping includes a staff report that one men’s knit sneaker began unraveling after a few months. It also describes a staffer machine-washing an older slip-on sneaker more than a dozen times. Neither anecdote establishes a normal failure rate or how long a pair should last.
Consider durability an open question for your intended use rather than a proven reason to pay more. The review does not provide independent long-term testing across models or a representative sample of owners.
