Yes—but the rules depend on what you are selling. Eligible creators can sell compliant avatar items they made or have permission to sell; players can resell only eligible Limited and Limited U items they own. Publishing fees, membership requirements, regional limits, and the rules for turning Robux into cash differ by route.
Which kinds of Roblox sales are allowed?
| Route | What can be sold | Who can sell | Where it happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator sale | Eligible avatar items, such as clothing, accessories, bodies, and other assets | Creators or groups that meet Roblox’s current requirements and have made the item or obtained permission to sell it | Roblox Marketplace |
| Resale | Limited and Limited U items the seller owns | Eligible owners who meet resale and regional requirements | Roblox Marketplace |
| Creator Store sale | Studio assets | Eligibility and terms depend on the Creator Store route; the avatar Marketplace rules should not be assumed to cover it | Creator Store |
| Physical merchandise | Physical products | Some developers with Commerce privileges, subject to separate eligibility and standards | Authorized Shopify stores through Roblox Commerce |
These routes are distinct. Roblox’s avatar-item guidance says, “Only sell items you made yourself, or items you have permission to sell.” Review the applicable Marketplace policy and avatar-item guidance before listing. Approval, a sale, earnings, or a cash payout is not guaranteed.
What do you need to publish an avatar item?
Roblox’s current Creator Hub guidance sets account and security requirements for Marketplace publishing. These are publishing conditions, not a universal rule for every way someone might earn or exchange value on Roblox.
- The individual creator or group owner needs ID verification or a linked parental account.
- Two-step verification is required to publish.
- The creator or group owner needs an owner-level Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 membership to publish and keep items on sale.
- The item must meet the applicable technical standards, Marketplace policy, and Community Standards, and must be created by the seller or offered with permission.
Creators typically make an avatar asset in a 3D program such as Blender, bring it into Roblox Studio, submit it for review, and list it if approved and eligible. Asset types and technical rules can change; consult the Marketplace overview and policy before preparing a submission.

What fees and commissions apply to creator sales?
Roblox’s Marketplace fees and commissions page describes upload fees, publishing advances, and transaction shares. The following figures are policy values shown in that documentation, which does not display a publication year; verify the live fee table for the asset type and sale context before committing Robux.
- A standard avatar-asset upload submission is listed at 80 Robux. Assets using an emissive mask have a different stated fee.
- Publishing advances vary by asset type and whether the item is Limited; the fee table gives the applicable amounts. Roblox describes a publishing advance as refundable. Rejected assets generally do not receive a refund of the upload fee.
- For a Marketplace purchase, the listed base creator share is 30%, with progressive shares as an item’s price rises relative to its price floor. Roblox’s examples show 50% at twice the price floor and 70% at six times the price floor.
- For an in-game avatar-item purchase, the fee page lists a 30% creator share and a 40% game-owner share. This is a different transaction context from a Marketplace purchase.
- Roblox says sale commissions are held in escrow for 30 days from the sale date.
These figures describe Robux transaction rules, not guaranteed income. Actual results depend on eligibility, the item, the sale route, and whether anyone buys it.

Can you resell an item you bought?
Yes, but resale is limited to eligible Limited and Limited U items that you own—not every item in your inventory. Roblox Support’s resale guidance says an active Roblox Plus subscription is required. A newly purchased Limited may also be subject to a holding period of up to 30 days before it can be resold. Proceeds may initially appear as pending.
Regional restrictions apply. Roblox Support identifies Japan and South Korea as having specific restrictions; Creator Hub’s fee guidance also says resale of community-created Limiteds is unavailable for accounts based in Japan. Check the current rules for your location before buying an item with resale in mind. The Creator Hub fee documentation describes transaction splits and a 10% original-creator commission for eligible resales.

Selling and trading are different: a sale lists an eligible item for Robux, while a trade swaps items with another player. Roblox’s restrictions and requirements for resale are explained in its selling-items support page.
Does Roblox Plus or Premium let you sell anything?
No. The applicable membership depends on the route. Creator Hub’s Marketplace publishing guidance lists Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 for the individual creator or group owner publishing and keeping an avatar item on sale. Roblox Support’s resale guidance specifies active Roblox Plus for reselling eligible Limited items. Neither requirement makes every inventory item resellable or removes the need to satisfy the other rules.

Can you turn Roblox sales into cash?
Robux proceeds do not automatically become cash. Roblox’s Earned Robux and DevEx guidance says only qualifying Earned Robux may be exchanged through DevEx, and creators must meet that program’s requirements. Robux bought directly, received through a gift card or membership grant, and proceeds from selling or trading items the user did not create are excluded from Earned Robux under that guidance. Do not treat a Robux sale price as a cash payout or assume all Robux balances qualify.
What about physical products or Creator Store assets?
Physical merchandise is not an avatar Marketplace listing. Some developers with Commerce privileges may sell physical products through authorized Shopify stores, subject to Roblox’s separate eligibility, listing, and legal standards. See Roblox’s Commerce Standards for that route.
