Amazon’s 2023 Prime Day ran in the U.S. from July 11 at 3 a.m. EDT through July 12. The June 20 announcement also introduced invite-only deals for selected offers and promoted Buy with Prime offers on participating merchants’ own websites. Those dates and discounts were for the 2023 event, not current deals.
When was Amazon Prime Day 2023?
Amazon announced on June 20, 2023, that the U.S. event would start July 11 at 3 a.m. EDT and continue through July 12. Amazon described the event as beginning July 11 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. Members in India were told they could shop later that summer; the announcement did not give India the same July dates.

Amazon’s July 5 preview also called it a 48-hour event. The dates and start time were Amazon’s scheduled terms for 2023, not a guarantee that every participating market followed an identical local schedule. Amazon’s June 20 announcement has the original market list and U.S. start time; its July 5 preview described the event as 48 hours.
How did Prime Day’s invite-only deals work?
For selected deals Amazon expected to sell out, Prime members could request an invitation. A request did not guarantee selection. Amazon said members selected for an offer would be notified during Prime Day and given instructions for purchasing at the exclusive price.

Amazon presented these as examples of its 2023 event discounts, not independently tested recommendations or independently verified savings against prior prices:

Amazon’s July 5 preview again described the invitation feature and included the 43-inch Fire TV Omni Series among the device offers. Neither release establishes invitation success rates, a universal way to compare prices, or whether any of those discounts represented savings relative to a product’s previous price.

What did Buy with Prime add?
Buy with Prime brought some Prime Day promotions to participating brands’ own websites, rather than limiting the shopping route to Amazon.com. Amazon said U.S. Prime members could shop offers from June 21 through Prime Day at named brands including Briogeo Hair Care, Anker, Wyze and Pickleball Central.
In its July preview, Amazon described Buy with Prime as giving U.S.-based Prime members delivery, checkout and returns benefits on participating brands’ websites. Participation was not universal: the announcement named specific brands and did not say that every retailer or offer used the service. The releases also do not establish current merchant participation or current terms.

How the two shopping routes differed
