The report outlined a web portal and on-site training, but current Amazon pages do not confirm that FC Ready is still operating. If you are looking for work now, check the current listing for your location rather than assuming an associate job includes FC Ready.
What was Amazon FC Ready?
VentureBeat reported on June 28, 2019, that Amazon planned to introduce FC Ready at select fulfillment centers in the following weeks. The name stood for “Fulfillment Center Ready.” The article characterized it as an “Uber-like” staffing initiative intended to fill open shifts and help the company meet internal shipping and processing quotas. These were reported plans, not confirmation of a current program. VentureBeat’s 2019 report was written by Kyle Wiggers.
VentureBeat said the plan could include new and salaried Amazon workers, with the initial rollout at select facilities. It specifically mentioned the Staten Island fulfillment center. Those details describe the reported 2019 plan; they do not establish present-day eligibility or participating locations.
How did the reported shift system work?
According to VentureBeat, workers would use a web portal to view available shifts, choose day or night work, and see accumulated hours. The report said workers would complete safety and knowledge-based training at the facility for specific tasks, including picking, packing, and shipping customer orders. The account does not establish that this portal or process remains available.

What did the report say about pay and benefits?
VentureBeat reported that FC Ready employees would receive the same base pay as full-time associates and described benefits at the Staten Island location. Those statements were tied to a 2019 report and a specific facility; they should not be treated as current pay or benefits terms. The article also placed the program in a broader historical context, reporting roughly 200,000 workers across more than 100 Amazon North American fulfillment centers. That is a dated 2019 figure, not a current workforce count.
Is FC Ready still available?
The available current Amazon pages do not say whether FC Ready continues, which facilities might participate, or how someone would apply. Amazon’s fulfillment-center careers information describes warehouse associate roles and notes that flexible or part-time hours may be available, but it does not mention FC Ready.

Amazon separately describes “Anytime Shifts” on its FamilyFlex page for eligible employees in select roles. The company says those employees can pick shifts through an internal app, work as few as four hours a week, and cancel a shift as little as 16 hours before it begins. These are terms Amazon gives for Anytime Shifts; they do not establish that FC Ready is the same program or that it remains active.

- Read the specific listing and location details for current hours, pay, benefits, and eligibility.
- Ask the recruiter or hiring contact whether flexible scheduling is available for that particular role. Do not assume that applying for an associate position enrolls you in FC Ready.
VentureBeat also reported that pilots may have begun in Whitestown, Indiana, and Sterling, Virginia, as early as August 2018, citing employee LinkedIn profiles. That is indirect evidence reported by the outlet, not official confirmation of pilot sites.
