ASUS did offer a free ROG Ally with select PC purchases in Canada, but the promotion ended on December 19, 2024. It applied to qualifying ASUS or ROG laptops and desktops priced at CA$1,499 or more at participating retailers; it is not a current worldwide giveaway.
What the ASUS promotion offered
ASUS announced that customers in Canada who bought an eligible ASUS or ROG laptop or desktop priced at CA$1,499 or more could receive a complimentary ROG Ally powered by Ryzen Z1 Extreme. ASUS stated the handheld’s value as CA$899 for this 2024 promotion; that figure is not a verified current market price. ASUS’s promotion announcement lists participating retailers including the ASUS Store, Best Buy, Canada Computers, Costco, Memory Express, and selected retailers.
The ROG Ally (2023) is a Windows 11 gaming handheld. ASUS lists 16 GB LPDDR5 memory, 512 GB PCIe Gen 4 storage, a UHS-II microSD slot, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 120 Hz Full HD touchscreen on its ROG Ally product page.
When it ran—and whether you can still claim it
The announced offer period was December 6 through December 19, 2024, while supplies lasted. That promotional window has passed, so the announcement does not support treating this as an active deal. The evidence of its end date does not rule out a later offer from an individual retailer, but no such current offer is established here.

Eligibility and return terms
ASUS cautioned that retailer requirements could vary. Best Buy, for example, used a predefined eligible-product list, so meeting the price threshold alone did not necessarily establish that every model qualified. Canada Computers’ December 6–12, 2024 flyer used the wording “over CA$1,498.99” for an eligible ASUS laptop or desktop purchase; ASUS’s announcement stated the threshold as CA$1,499. Canada Computers’ flyer is historical and does not establish a current offer.
- The promotion was available only while supplies lasted and could not be combined with other offers.
- If a customer returned the qualifying computer, ASUS required the complimentary Ally to be returned too: “Both the purchased product and the complimentary ROG Ally must be returned together in the event of a product return.”
Do not confuse it with ASUS’s 2026 campaign
ASUS separately announced a global “Upgrade What Matters” campaign running August 25 through December 31, 2026, with giveaways, creator collaborations, and PC-configuration content. That announcement does not say that an Ally is bundled with a PC purchase. ASUS’s Gamescom campaign announcement is a separate promotion, not evidence that the 2024 Canadian bundle returned.
