The APSC Veterinary Officer (VO)/Block Veterinary Officer (BVO) recruitment was a 2024 Assam government hiring notice, not a current opening. Reported online applications ran from March 11 to April 10, 2024, with fee payment through April 12. The headline figure of 37 posts is disputed: one report described 37 vacancies, another reported 71 total, and a secondary vacancy summary lists 37 as the unreserved allocation. The original Advertisement No. 06/2024 is needed to settle the total.
What was the APSC VO/BVO recruitment?
The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment was for Veterinary Officer/Block Veterinary Officer, Class-B, Class-I (Jr. Grade), in Assam’s Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department. The notice was identified in the reports as Advertisement No. 06/2024. It is a historical recruitment: the application and fee deadlines have passed.

How many vacancies were advertised?
Published figures conflict, so 37 should not be read as a verified total. Scroll.in’s March 6, 2024 report described 37 posts, while its March 11 follow-up reported 71 posts. A secondary APSC ORG summary gives a breakdown totaling 71: 37 UR, 19 OBC/MOBC, 5 SC, 7 STP and 3 STH. That breakdown suggests 37 may refer to the unreserved category, but the original APSC advertisement was not available in the cited material to confirm it.
| Reported figure | What it represents | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 37 | Described as the number of posts in a March 6 report | Scroll.in, March 6, 2024; headline and story body |
| 71 | Described as the total number of posts in a March 11 follow-up | Scroll.in, March 11, 2024 |
| 37 UR; 19 OBC/MOBC; 5 SC; 7 STP; 3 STH | Category breakdown totaling 71 | APSC ORG summary; publication year not established, and this is not the original APSC notice |
Check Advertisement No. 06/2024 in APSC records before relying on the total or category-wise allocation. The available secondary summaries do not conclusively establish either.

What were the reported application dates and fees?
The March 11 report said online applications opened March 11, 2024 and closed April 10, 2024. The reported fee-payment deadline was April 12, 2024. These deadlines are over; the notice is not an invitation to apply now.
Scroll.in reported the following fees. The figures should be checked against the original notice before being treated as a complete or definitive fee schedule.
| Reported applicant category | Reported amount |
|---|---|
| General | ₹297.20 |
| SC/ST/OBC/MOBC | ₹197.20 |
| BPL and PwBD candidates | ₹47.20 processing fee |
Scroll.in’s March 6, 2024 report is the source for these amounts. It does not establish here whether additional conditions or fee rules applied.
What eligibility was reported?
The March 6 report stated that applicants needed at least a degree in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science from a recognized university or institution. It also reported an age range of 21–38 years as of January 1, 2024. These are secondary-source summaries, not a substitute for the full eligibility clauses in Advertisement No. 06/2024.

How did the reported application process work?
For historical context, Scroll.in’s March 11 report described an online process through the APSC website:

The secondary reports cited here do not establish the official vacancy total, complete eligibility rules, pay, selection stages, syllabus, examination schedule or subsequent results. Those particulars require confirmation in APSC’s own advertisement and records rather than inference from recruitment summaries.
