These seven university scholarships are specifically aimed at women studying or starting engineering degrees in the United Kingdom, Australia and Italy. They are selected examples, not a definitive worldwide list, and their eligibility and availability depend on the institution and intake year. Several listed application periods have passed, and some 2027 awards are unconfirmed; check each official page for current terms before applying.

Compare the seven scholarships

Scholarship and institution Country and eligible students Value and places Application and current status
Geraldine Keefe Women in Engineering Futures Scholarship, University of Bristol United Kingdom; female Home UK undergraduates with an offer or pending decision in specified courses. The course list includes several engineering degrees as well as computer science, engineering mathematics and artificial intelligence. £2,000 per year of study, plus access to an additional £2,500 employability fund; seven students may receive the award for up to four years. The 2026/27 page says applications are closed. Check the eligible-course list and current application route on the university page.
Women in Engineering Scholarship, Monash University Australia; eligible Year 12 or International Baccalaureate students intending to begin an undergraduate engineering degree at Monash. Residency or citizenship categories apply. A$6,000 for one year; ten awards. Minimum ATAR: 90.00. No separate application: eligible students are automatically assessed when they list Monash as a VTAC preference. The award cannot be deferred.
Women in Engineering Scholarship Program, UNSW Sydney Australia; commencing undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering, subject to the program’s residency and selection conditions. A$12,000 per year for the minimum program duration. For Term 1 2027, the stated application period was 1 July–30 September 2026 and has passed. One application can make a student eligible for consideration for multiple constituent awards.
Girls@Polimi, Politecnico di Milano Italy; women intending to enroll in specified engineering degrees with low female enrollment: electronic, computer, mechanical, electrical or automation engineering. For 2026/27, 35 scholarships worth €24,000 each, paid at €8,000 per year. Check the university’s current 2026/27 terms and application call.
Else Shepherd Scholarship for Women in Engineering, Queensland University of Technology Australia; eligible current female undergraduate engineering students from regional, rural or remote areas. Australian citizenship or permanent residency, full-time enrollment, GPA and other conditions apply. A$15,000 for up to one year, paid in two A$7,500 semester installments. The listed application period was 20 August–30 September 2026 and has passed. Check the official listing for a future application round.
STEM Women in Engineering Scholarship, RMIT University Australia; women commencing a Bachelor of Engineering in Semester 1 2027, subject to citizenship or residency, full-time study, Year 12 and ATAR criteria. A$5,000 per year for up to four years. RMIT says 15 scholarships were awarded in 2026. RMIT says 2027 scholarships are still to be confirmed. Treat availability as provisional and check the page for an update.
Women in Engineering Scholarship, Queensland University of Technology Australia; future female undergraduate engineering students starting university for the first time in 2027. 18 awards are listed. The page describes assessment based on academic performance and eligibility criteria; an award amount is not stated in the available listing. Verify the full eligibility conditions, amount and dates on QUT’s official page.

How to choose which awards to pursue

Start with the eligibility rules, not the headline amount. These programs are not interchangeable: some are for school leavers, others for students already enrolled, and several restrict eligibility by residency, citizenship, location or degree. A large annual award may also be tied to a specific minimum program duration, while another amount may cover only one year.

  • Match your stage and course: confirm whether the scholarship is for a commencing student or a current undergraduate, and whether your exact engineering degree is included.
  • Check residence and academic conditions: look for citizenship or residency categories, location requirements, GPA or ATAR thresholds, and full-time study conditions.
  • Understand the application route: Monash describes automatic assessment through VTAC preference; UNSW’s program requires an application. Follow the exact route on each current page.
  • Read the amount with its duration: distinguish a one-year payment from an annual amount over multiple years, and note any stated payment schedule or additional fund.
  • Confirm the intake and deadline: dates and award availability change. A listing for 2026/27 or Term 1 2027 is not evidence that the same offer will be available in another intake.

What “exclusively for women” means here

The programs are directed specifically at women in engineering, but each institution sets its own eligibility definitions and conditions. Some also cover related or adjacent courses, while others are restricted to particular engineering disciplines. Bristol’s eligible list, for example, includes computer science, engineering mathematics and artificial intelligence alongside engineering degrees; applicants should confirm that their course qualifies under the scholarship’s own rules.

The examples span three countries, but they do not establish a complete global list or a ranking of the best awards. The award counts are program-specific and do not reveal applicant numbers or the likelihood of receiving funding.
