AeroRoutes reported on March 19, 2025, that Allegiant had removed these nine Los Angeles routes from its Northern Summer 2025 schedule. The list reflects schedule reporting, not an Allegiant-issued route-cancellation announcement.

When did Allegiant close its Los Angeles crew base?
An agreement between Allegiant and the Transport Workers Union of America says the airline announced the LAX base closure on March 3, 2025, and that it took effect September 2, 2025. The agreement addresses the process for handling the closure’s effects on affected flight attendants. The base closure was a staffing and operating-base change; it was distinct from removing specific city pairs from the schedule.

Why did Allegiant say it was closing the base?
In a March 10, 2025 report, Cranky Flier quoted an Allegiant spokesperson attributing the decision to LAX station costs and the airline’s longer-term commitment to operating there. The spokesperson said: “Paying approximately $50 per departing passenger in LAX-related station costs alone is no longer sustainable.” The company also said it expected those costs to rise with airport capital projects. The approximately $50 figure is Allegiant’s reported estimate, not an independently audited cost analysis.
Did Allegiant say it would stop flying to Los Angeles?
No. In the same contemporaneous account, Allegiant said: “We will continue to serve Los Angeles with all flights operating as turns from other bases, providing our customers with the exceptional service they have come to expect from Allegiant.” A turn means an aircraft and crew operate a flight to Los Angeles and then return or continue without being based there. This described Allegiant’s plan at the time; it does not confirm the live schedule in 2026. Check Allegiant’s current booking schedule for availability on specific dates.

Was weak leisure demand the reason for the LAX cuts?
Allegiant reported broader demand softness around the same time, but its public statement did not say that this caused the individual LAX route changes or the crew-base closure. In its February 2025 traffic release, issued March 18, chief commercial officer Drew Wells said the company was experiencing leisure-demand softness, particularly in shoulder and off-peak periods. Allegiant also lowered its full-year 2025 capacity-growth forecast from 17% to 13% year over year, with reductions primarily affecting those periods. This is company-wide context, not a stated route-by-route explanation for Los Angeles.
