Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThere is no single best PayPal replacement for every freelancer or blogger: the right choice depends on where your business is registered, how clients want to pay, which currencies you need, and how you withdraw the money. The evidence supports a practical shortlist of five services—not 20 globally comparable alternatives. Wise Business and Payoneer focus on cross-border receipts, Stripe on online card payments, Revolut Business on UK business payment acceptance, and Square has only a narrowly supported UK fee detail here.
Start with the payment route you need
“PayPal alternative” can describe several different things. A service that gives you local bank details for incoming transfers does not necessarily let you accept cards at checkout; a marketplace payout service is not automatically a website payment processor. Choose the route before comparing fees.
- Bank transfer to account details: useful when a client can pay an invoice by bank transfer and you need to receive or hold more than one currency.
- Card payment by invoice or link: useful when a client wants to pay by card without going through a marketplace.
- Marketplace payout: relevant when the platform paying you supports a particular provider or payout method.
- Website checkout: needed when customers should pay directly on your site, potentially for services, subscriptions, or digital products.
These routes can overlap, but they are not interchangeable. Confirm that the provider supports the payment method and account type you actually intend to use in your country.
Compare the full cost, not one advertised fee
A meaningful comparison follows one payment from the client to your bank. Include the fee to receive it, any international-card surcharge, currency conversion, withdrawal cost, and the payout route. Also check payout timing, recurring billing, refunds, disputes, and holds. A low processing fee can be offset by conversion or withdrawal costs.

- Two-Part Carbonless Invoice Book: Each invoice book has 50 sets of invoices, each with a white/light yellow section, with the yellow section retained in the invoice book to maintain detailed records.
- Consecutively Numbered: Enlarged red 6-digit numbers in the upper right corner of each invoice receipt book help you quickly navigate through your orders.
- Wraparound Divider Flap: A thick folded cardboard divider is integrated into the back of each invoice book for use between each two-part sales order to prevent the written content from rubbing off on subsequent copies of the invoice, resulting in wasted invoices.
- 2 Packs/50 Sets (100 Sets Total): Each invoice book provides 50 sequentially numbered carbonless sets of 2 invoice books for long-term use.
- Customizable Space: Each invoice book for small business has space at the top to add a company seal or sticker.
Use identical assumptions for each option: your business-registration country, the client’s country, invoice amount, payment method, received currency, monthly volume, and withdrawal destination. Wise’s fee-comparison guidance recommends comparing providers with the same transaction assumptions.
Keep the PayPal baseline specific
PayPal’s U.S. merchant fee page, last updated October 1, 2026, distinguishes domestic from international transactions and lists different rates for different payment products. Its international receiving charge adds a percentage-based fee to the domestic fee for the applicable service. Before comparing another provider with PayPal, identify the exact PayPal product and transaction type you use; one fee figure cannot represent every PayPal payment route.

Shortlist: five services with distinct use cases
| Service | Best-supported fit | What the cited official material establishes about fees |
|---|---|---|
| Wise Business | Eligible international bank receipts and multicurrency balances; some invoice, link, and card workflows | Wise’s U.S. card page lists 2.9% + $0.30 for domestic cards and 4.2% + $0.30 for international and business cards. U.S.-page pricing; confirm eligibility and current terms. |
| Payoneer | Supported marketplace payouts and direct client payments | Not stated in the cited official freelancer material; check fees and withdrawal options for your country. |
| Stripe | Online card payments, payment links, and checkout for services, subscriptions, or digital goods | Stripe’s displayed U.S. card price is 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic cards, plus 1.5% for international cards and 1% if currency conversion is required. U.S. pricing; check the market where your business is registered. |
| Revolut Business | UK business customers seeking payment links or online payment acceptance | Its UK page shows online pricing starting at 1% + £0.20 and differentiates card categories. Eligibility, merchant setup, and plan terms apply. |
| Square | A possible regional option; the supported detail here is limited to UK card pricing | Square’s UK fee schedule says a card issued outside the country of the Square account adds 1.5% to base processing fees. This does not establish the full processing cost. |
Wise Business: multicurrency receipts, with separate card conditions
Wise Business is worth evaluating if eligible clients can pay by bank transfer to local account details and you want to manage multiple currencies. Wise also describes invoice, link, and card-payment workflows, but card acceptance has its own availability and fee conditions; having multicurrency account details does not by itself mean every client can pay you by card.
For a U.S. account, Wise’s card page lists 2.9% + $0.30 for domestic cards and 4.2% + $0.30 for international and business cards. Those are U.S.-page prices, not a worldwide rate card. Check which account and card types qualify in your region before using either figure in a cost estimate.

Do not assume the WooCommerce gateway is generally available
Wise’s March 13, 2026 announcement described a staged 2026 pilot and waitlist for its WooCommerce payment gateway. That announcement is not evidence that the gateway is currently available to every merchant; verify access and eligibility before building a checkout around it.
Payoneer: marketplace payouts and direct client payments
Payoneer is a strong candidate if one of your supported marketplaces pays through it, or if you want to request payment directly from a client. Its freelancer information describes payouts from named marketplaces, client payments in more than 70 currencies, local receiving details, payment requests and links, and multicurrency balances.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Stripe: card payments, links, and online checkout
Stripe fits freelancers and bloggers who sell services, subscriptions, or digital goods online and need card processing, payment links, or checkout. It solves a different problem from receiving a bank transfer into multicurrency account details, so compare it on the card-payment path you intend to offer.

Stripe’s displayed U.S. card price is 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic cards, with an additional 1.5% for international cards and an additional 1% when conversion is required. These are U.S. prices; consult pricing for your business’s market and apply the relevant additions to your actual transaction type.
Revolut Business: a UK-specific option to investigate
Revolut Business is relevant here for UK business customers looking for payment links or online payment acceptance. Its UK page shows online pricing starting at 1% + £0.20 and separates card categories. The starting figure is not a guaranteed all-in rate: eligibility, merchant setup, card type, and plan terms matter. Do not treat this UK price as available to businesses elsewhere.
Square: the available UK fee detail is not a full comparison
Square’s UK fee schedule says a card issued outside the country of the Square account adds 1.5% to the base processing fee. That is a specific international-card surcharge, not the complete fee for accepting a payment. The cited material does not establish a comparable full profile for Square across regions, so check the applicable local schedule before deciding whether it fits your online workflow.
Quick Recap
Choose by workflow, then verify eligibility
- Write down your payment path. Specify whether clients will use bank transfer, card, a marketplace payout, or your website checkout.
- Fix the transaction assumptions. Record business country, client country, amount, payment currency, expected monthly volume, and withdrawal destination.
- Check country and account eligibility. Confirm supported features and currencies for your account type; availability and terms differ by region.
- Price the whole route. Add receiving, card, conversion, and withdrawal charges that apply to that transaction. Do not compare a bank transfer’s cost with a card-processing price as though they were the same service.
- Check the operating details. Confirm payout timing, recurring-payment support if needed, invoice or link features, refund and dispute handling, and any holds or reserves described in the provider’s terms.
- Run a small real-world check before switching. Verify that a client can use the proposed method and that the received currency and withdrawal destination work as expected before moving every payment to a new route.
