PolyGlobe was reported as a map-based way to find and follow conflict-related bets on Polymarket—not as the operator of those bets. Futurism described its features on December 2, 2025, including map markers linked to markets and a social-post feed presented as open-source intelligence. Some reported features may not remain available: a map feature explaining the geographic area and settlement rules appeared to be in limbo after criticism.
What PolyGlobe was reported to do
Futurism reported that PolyGlobe placed markers over geopolitical markets, including markers along the Ukraine–Russia front line. Selecting a marker led to the relevant Polymarket dashboard, where the underlying contracts were traded. The article also described a feed of purported real-time open-source intelligence assembled from posts by accounts on X.
The feed’s sourcing was a significant caveat. Futurism said the developers had no strict criteria for selecting accounts and that anonymous amateur accounts appeared to provide much of the visible material. A social post can be timely without being verified; displaying it on a map does not establish its accuracy.
The developers described another feature that would show the area a market resolves on and explain its rules in plain English. They said it would make the market’s settlement terms easier to understand. Following backlash from DeepState, the group behind a Ukraine frontline map, Futurism reported that this feature appeared to be in limbo. That December 2025 account does not establish what PolyGlobe offers now.

Can you bet on wars in real time?
Some prediction-market platforms have offered contracts tied to military and geopolitical events. PolyGlobe was reported to help users locate and follow those markets; the trading itself took place on Polymarket. The market questions cited in Futurism’s December 2025 report included whether Russia would capture all of Pokrovsk before 2026, whether Israel would strike Lebanon on December 5, and whether India would strike Pakistan by March 31. Those examples reflect markets reported at that time, not confirmation that they remain open.
UNSW-hosted analysis described Polymarket as a cryptocurrency-based prediction market. Users can suggest ideas, but the platform creates the markets. Rather than receiving fixed bookmaker odds, traders buy and sell contracts at prices that change with trading.

How a yes-or-no contract works
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists describes yes/no contracts priced between $0 and $1. A contract’s price can be read as the market’s implied probability, and a correct contract pays $1 when the market resolves. That price is a signal shaped by trading, liquidity and the market’s design—not an independently verified probability or a guarantee of what will happen. The exact wording and resolution rules matter: a disagreement about what counts as an event can affect whether a contract pays out.
UNSW’s March 2026 analysis gave examples of markets concerning whether the United States would strike Iran on February 28, whether Iran might close the Strait of Hormuz, when U.S. troops might enter Iran, and potential targets. UNSW reported that more than US$4 million was wagered on the particular question of whether U.S. strikes on Iran would occur on February 28, 2026. That is a figure for that dated market, not a current total.

Why conflict markets raise concerns beyond ordinary investment risk
These contracts involve more than the possibility of losing money. UNSW’s authors argue that reducing military decisions and civilian exposure to yes-or-no wagers can dehumanize people affected by conflict and create incentives to influence events. They also discuss the possibility that bets and price movements could contribute to information warfare. These are analyses of potential risks, not evidence that a specific market changed a military decision.
Prices can become signals
A market may reveal that traders expect an event—or that some traders have information others lack. The Guardian quoted Richard Painter, identified as chief White House ethics lawyer under George W. Bush, warning: “If you know we’re going to bomb Iran in the next week and you start placing bets, then the prediction market tells the Iranians they’re about to get bombed,” He added that other countries could watch prediction markets to try to infer what the United States planned to do. His comments describe an operational-security concern, not proof that a market disclosed a particular plan.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists identifies a related amplification risk: a wager based on classified knowledge can be visible, copied and turned into a wider signal. It also argues that markets could create incentives to manipulate or undermine military operations for profit. These are possible security hazards; they do not establish that a specific operation was affected.
Insider-trading scrutiny is not a finding of wrongdoing
The Associated Press reported that at least 50 newly created Polymarket accounts placed substantial bets on a U.S.–Iran ceasefire shortly before its announcement. The report said Representative Ritchie Torres asked the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to investigate. A request for scrutiny is not a finding that the traders used insider information or broke the law.

Market growth is not proof of predictive accuracy
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, reporting a Pew Research Center estimate, said combined monthly trading volume on Kalshi and Polymarket was US$24 billion in April 2026, compared with US$2 billion in August 2025. The same Bulletin article put the amount wagered on Polymarket political markets through April 2026 at nearly US$20 billion. These are different measures and time windows; neither establishes the accuracy of market forecasts or the amount currently at stake.

Futurism reported that PolyGlobe’s developers said they were associated with the Pentagon Pizza Watch project and had an official partnership with Polymarket through its Builder’s Program. Those are claims in the December 2025 report, not independent confirmation that a partnership remains active. The developers also said they were funded mainly through creator fees associated with their cryptocurrency and were exploring data licensing and on-site trading. The report does not establish that licensing or trading launched, or that those statements describe the product’s present business.
That reporting also does not establish whether PolyGlobe is currently operating with the same features, whether its social feed is accurate, or whether its reported partnership remains active. Treat the product description as a dated account rather than a guarantee of current availability.
Access and legality depend on where and when you use a platform
There is no single access or legal rule for every reader. UNSW’s March 2026 analysis described past restrictions in the United States and restrictions in other countries. The Guardian reported a limited, waitlist-only regulated U.S. offering at the time of its article, while AP reported a request for CFTC scrutiny in April 2026. Those reports do not establish the rules or availability that apply to every person in October 2026. Check the platform’s current terms and the laws that apply where you live before attempting to trade.

Questions to ask before relying on a conflict map or market feed
- Where does the information come from? Check whether posts and other inputs are attributable, independently corroborated and clearly distinguished from verified reporting.
- What exactly resolves the market? Read the contract’s wording, geographic scope and settlement rules rather than assuming a map marker defines them.
- Is uncertainty visible? A contract price is a market signal, not a confirmed forecast. A useful interface should not blur that distinction.
- Can you access and use it lawfully? Availability and rules vary by jurisdiction and can change.
- Could the information or incentives cause harm? Consider risks involving classified information, manipulation, operational security and the people affected by the event.
Futurism’s December 2025 reporting makes PolyGlobe notable as an interface connecting conflict maps, social posts and prediction markets. It does not establish that every displayed claim was reliable or that every described feature remains live. For a reader weighing a trade, the contract terms, source quality and jurisdiction matter more than the map’s immediacy.
