As of October 7, 2026, an active Black Friday discount on the PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro has not been verified. Sony’s current U.S. recommended prices are $649.99 for the disc-drive PS5, $599.99 for the Digital Edition and $899.99 for PS5 Pro. Those are recommended prices, not proof that a retailer has marked down a console. Check the offer’s dates, stock and checkout total before treating it as a sale.
What do the PS5 Slim and Pro cost in the U.S.?
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s recommended U.S. prices, effective April 2, 2026, are:
| Console | Sony recommended price |
|---|---|
| PS5 with disc drive | $649.99 |
| PS5 Digital Edition | $599.99 |
| PS5 Pro | $899.99 |
Sony’s announcement gives recommended prices, not guaranteed transaction prices at every retailer. Sony said the increases reflected “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” Sony’s March 27, 2026 pricing announcement has the details.
The October 1 GamesRadar roundup describes its coverage as early Black Friday deals and lists the same prices. That match does not establish a discount. Without a dated retailer offer showing a lower price, model and availability, the claim that these consoles are on sale remains unverified. GamesRadar’s early Black Friday PS5 deals roundup is secondary coverage, not proof of a live offer.

How to tell whether a Black Friday offer is a real saving
- Identify the exact console. Check whether the listing is for the disc-drive PS5, Digital Edition or PS5 Pro, and note the listed storage and model or SKU. Sony’s current product pages can show different revisions and capacities, so don’t assume every Slim listing is identical.
- Check the offer itself. Look for the retailer’s price, promotion start and end dates, and stock status. A Black Friday label or a listed recommended price alone does not show that the console is discounted.
- Compare the checkout total. Include any accessory you need, such as a compatible disc drive or stand, rather than comparing console prices alone.
- Confirm the final price before buying. Retail availability and promotions can change; use the amount shown at checkout and retain the offer details if you are comparing retailers.
Which model and setup should you compare?
PS5 with disc drive
The disc-drive model is the straightforward comparison if you want to use physical game or movie discs without buying an add-on drive. Sony’s U.S. buying page describes a 1 TB disc-drive PS5; verify the storage and exact SKU on the specific offer page. Sony’s U.S. PS5 buying page.
PS5 Digital Edition
The Digital Edition does not include a disc drive. Sony sells an attachable Disc Drive for compatible CFI-2000 Slim models and PS5 Pro. Sony says it supports 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD discs, and that an internet connection is required to pair the drive with the console during setup. Check compatibility against the exact model before including the add-on in your comparison. Sony’s Disc Drive compatibility and product information.

PS5 Pro
Sony Direct’s listing identifies a 2 TB PS5 Pro, but listings and model revisions can vary. Confirm the capacity and SKU on the retailer’s page rather than assuming a console offer matches another listing. The Pro can also use Sony’s compatible add-on Disc Drive if physical discs matter to you.
Include accessories only when they change your total
The Disc Drive is relevant when a digital console buyer wants physical discs; its compatibility and setup requirements can affect the true cost of that choice. A vertical stand is sold separately. Sony lists compatibility with PS5 CFI-1000 and CFI-2000 Slim groups, and its direct listing also identifies PS5 Pro compatibility. Confirm the exact model and whether you need the stand for your setup before adding it to a price comparison. Sony’s PS5 Vertical Stand product page.
